I'm 40's size 16, big belly, big boob's. Going away with friends this weekend. Need outfits for casual lunch and nice dinner. Don't like any of my clothes. Feel frumpy and have no idea what people even wear out now. Might be able to fit in a quick shopping trip for 1-2 hours before I go. M+S, next, new look type places available near by. Help!

For lunch I'd wear with a t-shirt or thin jumper and then something similar to this New Look jacket. Add some pumps and jewellery.

M&S have Finery cropped jersey trousers which are also very flattering and nice material. Could pair with a top and jacket.

Managed 2 dresses, jeans and few tops. Thank god because going in my pyjamas was my next option!

I got 2 midi dresses one a shirt dress in plain black and one pattern with a pinched in waist. A pair of high rise place jeans that make my belly look flat-its honestly not. A shirt and 2 loose crops t shirts. I did not need all of that but I hate shopping and hate how I look in most clothes so when I liked them I just took them all!

Could I ask you what the fit is for waist v hips on those Next jeans? Ive been finding recently I’ve had to size up for waist fit due to menopause belly and end up with jeans that are too loose else where. Thanks (sorry to hijack OP)

I got the jeans in new look and everything else in H+M.

@ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea i wear a 12, as u do in most trousers, and I’d say they’re true to size. If anything, quite generous not small. I have “athletic” thighs and carry all my weight round my middle.

I also carry all my weight around my middle - sort of a potato with slim legs. I find that they are a nice fit without being baggy around the bum and legs and seem to have some ‘give’ in the right places. I’d also say they are true to size - definitely worth a go!
