Summer dress help

Beckree · 23/04/2025 14:47

Hi,

I am looking for inspiration please.

I have a summer party to attend (adult only, afternoon lunch then drinks).
Dress code is summer casual.

budget up to £50 - this could be stretched for the right dress.
info:
5”3 (so nothing too long )
blonde hair early 40s
I need something that will look ok with my very small cleavage and cover my stomach well.
I prefer small patterns or plain. Open to colour suggestions.

Thanks

Size 8-10 depending on dress.

Lol can you tell I like green? Any of them any good?

Have a look at Nobodys Child sale section - either on their own site or via John Lewis

this is nice

minipie · 23/04/2025 16:04

Or this is a bit more dressy

minipie · 23/04/2025 16:11

this is very pretty albeit large print

This is elegant and dramatic and good value:

Stories, more green

This is over budget but may be a bargain if it suits:

Stories jumpsuit

And - not exactly what you asked for but this would look cool over any pair of shorts:

Stories waistcoat

Zara has an ample supply of dresses that look lovely, mostly for a little more than your budget. But this is cheaper, and gorgeous - if not too good to be true. (I’m 5’3 and have never found any Zara dress to be too long, but with something like this would have it shortened above the hem tier if it were.)

Zara white

Great suggestions so far (and I love green).

prefer dress to waistcoat. The H&M one is probably my favourite so far.

The H&M one is absolutely gorgeous if you can do strapless. Lovely summer party vibe. 💚

If it had straps it would be fine.
i am very petite in the chest and like a little more reassurance in that area.

Ooo. You're small - you could get a dressmaker to slice an inch or two off the bottom and make thin straps for it. But is it worth it?

It has detachable straps…

I love the HandM dress!

Thanks I’ve just bought the H&M one. Will see how it fits.
