Another engagement ring one...

Hi lovely mumsnet ladies! DP and I are going to go engagement ring shopping in a couple of weeks (first Saturday we are both free). Thinking of going to diamond heaven as they have a store nearby. Does anyone have any experience of using them? I'm after something with a bit of an art deco or vintage vibe rather than a traditional solitaire

I was told by 2 separate jewellers in Birmingham jewellery quarter not to touch diamond heaven with a barge pole.

Very exciting, I've no experience of Diamond Heaven but I would say try on lots of different styles. Also think about what style of wedding band you might like and try it on with the engagement rings.

Really? Thanks!,I've heard such good things about them! We weren't planning on looking in any of the well known high street chains but I'd only heard good things about them until now

I think I've been in the Leeds branch, it's a very...cheap experience if its the lab grown, design your own store I think.
You're sat with fake gold rings to choose the style, followed by fake diamonds to choose the cut.

We much preferred popping into a second hand jewellery store to browse the more art deco options available there. As it is, we ended up getting mine from Etsy as a made to order ring- happy to send you a link if you want to see.

If it’s vintage/art deco that you are after why not try Etsy or jewellers that specialise in antique jewellery?

meant to add it may well work out much cheaper than new and also more likely to be unique.
