Feminine corporate work clothes

Just about to start a new senior job with increased interactions with CEOs and more formal events. I have traditionally been complimented on my dress sense but I am at a bit at a lost now when looking for more 'corporate' clothing (for instance, suit coordinates or dress with blazer combos) especially as have put on weight as a result of the menopause (I am still a size 8 but only 5.3 and some of my clothes don't fit). Any advice on what to wear? TIA

The Fold. Start there. If you want a stylist to help you, Lizzie Edwards specialises in exactly this kind of thing.

COS, Joseph, even Massimo Dutti will have things too, as will Studio Nicholson,

Oh, in terms of inspiration, watch The Split on BBC iPlayer. The main character's wardrobe is perfect and absolutely what you're looking for.

Edited to add not The Split Barcelona, styling was dreadful in that!

@bunnybunnybunnybunny I have been having a look at The Fold - it does look lovely ... was wondering how it would work for someone on the short side but definitely of interest

The Fold are fantastic. They will also get things altered for you if sleeves etc need shortening, but will also advise on building a wardrobe that goes together - I particularly like how their drops are small but colour co-ordinated.
If you do Instagram, Monikagoestowork is petite but corporate clothing focussed

You'll be fine with The Fold. A friend wears a lot of it and she's 5ft 1!

It's a good place to start, if only for ideas. Once you know exactly what you're looking for, it will be easier to shop anywhere and everywhere.

@CMOTDibbler @bunnybunnybunnybunny many thanks - definitely a good incentive for an expedition to one of their shops!

If you’re feeling bigger than you’re used to I’d avoid the Fold - very form-fitting!
I work in a senior corporate environment and to be honest the dress code has dialed down significantly post-Covid. Far fewer suits, heels and dresses. If you do some googling or hunt around Instagram for modern corporate workwear that should give you some good ideas.
I’m a similar size to you and my go-to is a well cut blazer/jacket with plain but decent quality trousers and top, but whatever will make you feel confident and pulled together.

I echo looking at the Lizzie Edwards website, a great resource

AlwaysGoodToChat · 20/04/2025 13:07

@LuubyLuu Thanks for the advice. I feel quite comfortable with dress and a blazer or a nice pair of trousers and a blazer that coordinates but is not too matching... Will definitely look at Lizzie Edwards...
Tbh, is that one of things that is making me have reservations about The Fold is what you mention, and investing in something that is above my usual budget when I am trying to lose weight...
