Graduation outfit

My husband has just found out he’s passed an MSc. I’m so proud of him.

I’m also doing weight loss injections (I’m not here for a discussion about that) and have lost around 1 stone. I expect by the graduation I will have lost 2 stone. I would like to wear something that is flattering to my new figure (hopefully a size 12 by then). It’s in July. I’m also 5’9”.

Any advice appreciated!

I don't think anyone can help you with this without any more details! What is your figure-height/shape-good bits etc

Budget?
General ballpark of preferences?

TedLassosMoustache · 18/04/2025 20:15

Haha. I can spend up to £200 if necessary. But in terms of ballpark ideas…I have none! I don’t know what the right sort of thing is to wear at all. It’s in July, so it will be warm!

I go to several graduations a year and the outfits vary considerably. Some people turn up in jeans and a t shirt, others are all dressed up like a wedding. The Nigerian parents always looks absolutely stunning in beautiful bright suits and hats.

Just wear what you want and what you will be comfortable in all day. Lots of standing about waiting! Ultimately people are very focused on their own family unit so don't worry about wearing the 'right' thing for others.

By "ballpark" I meant what do you like?

Zara satin midi dress

what about something like this?

or would you prefer a trousers and top, shorter length, different material? Is the colour wrong?
