Denim / casual jacket with short arms

Every year at around this time I start looking for a denim or denim-style jacket and end up giving up because all the sleeves are just a bit too long on me! I really, really hate them falling down over my hands.

I usually buy cuffed, bracelet, 3/4, or short length sleeves on everything else, but casual jackets have me stumped.

The only brand I've found with sleeves that consistently seem to suit me is Toast but their jackets don't really work on me (somehow the wrong length, and make me look shorter and wider than I am!)

Can anyone suggest any other brands or shops that usually have slightly shorter sleeves? I don't necessarily need current items as I'll happily shop online. Just brands would be useful!

I’m sorry if this seems obvious, or if there’s a reason against it that I’ve missed, but surely the easiest thing would be to buy the jackets you like and then have the sleeves tailored to fit?

I imagine most towns have more than one alterations service, or you could use an online service where they guide you through how to accurately show the alteration you want, and you send or deliver the item to them. Denim should be an easy and inexpensive alteration, particularly if there’s no lining.

M&S do denim jackets in white, pink and blue where the sleeves turn back and look as if it's meant to be worn like that.

Sleeves are always too long on me, and I also hate them flapping around.

I got a denim jacket in M&S where the sleeves are fine, but a lot of cotton/denim jackets you can normally just fold the sleeves back a bit,

I usually resort to Next for petite jackets - they have a fairly solid offering online and I have one of their denim jackets. I still roll the sleeves back but they're not insanely long like other brands!

THey also have a utility jacket that comes in Petite also which might work.

Thank you all for replying - very helpful!

Turning them up has never worked for me as the (usually) buttoned cuff looks messy when I try.

M&S and Next sound worth a look so than you for that! The Mint Velvet one is really nice - a bit more than I'd like to spend but I might try it on if the others don't have anything!

As for alterations, tbh it had just never occured to me. I might have a look locally - I'm quite middle-of-nowhere-ish but there might be somewhere.

Thanks again!

I chopped the sleeves off mine last summer in a fit of temper, because they were too long and wouldn't stay rolled up.

There’s this thing I’ve seen on Instagram - which I hope someone will be able to explain better than me - where you pull the sleeves up and then use what looks like some kind of giant hair band to hold the ruched sleeves in place. So it’s like you’ve casually pulled the arms up but then it’s held in place so they don’t fall down. I think it would work with lighter jackets for sure.
