Eyebrow makeup and tricks

I have good eyebrows, but they are thinning as I age. I no longer need to get them waxed or plucked in a salon. The shape is OK.

I have been tinting them, and I will continue to do so. I CBA to use Revitalash or similar on them. I have a tube, and just forget to use it.

I've been using Benefit Gimme Brow which is like a mascara. It is OK, but I need something more. I don't like the look of pencils.

I want to make them look thicker/ fuller and I want to add to the tail as it is a bit low on hairs.

I am prepared to spend on this as I don't wear a lot of makeup, just bronzer, eyes and eyebrows.

Any tips, video suggestions and makeup recommendations please?

I've been using Ardell Brow Pomade (I get it from Sally Beauty online). It's like an eye shadow but thicker and comes with a mascara brush and a normal pointed brush. Really good for filling in gaps, covering grey and giving a good shape without it looking like a pencil.

you need a powder in a similar colour to ‘fill’ them in. I use a Bobbi brown brow duo. It comes with a brush. I have fair brows so use the lighter shades for filling so they don’t look too dark.

Why don’t you get them microbladed or tattooed? It will last a couple of years (longer if tattooed and you’ve got drier skin)

I also have really good brows, but had them tattooed about 5 years ago and can still see some of the tattoo below and they’re fab! Will get them done again soon. I just dye them every 6 weeks or so

I use elf brow pencil… it’s really good considering it’s sooooo cheap!

The big brow is on its way out.
But nice brows are in not massive painted forehead ones.

IndieRocknRoll · 16/04/2025 14:22

Get them microbladed. It looks really natural. They match the colour to your own eyebrow hair and you can choose the shape and thickness.
mine were sparse with no defined ends after years of plucking. They look so much better now and should last for at least 18 months.

I use Revitabrow it really does work when I am in serious use mode . I keep it in the bathroom to remind me to use either night or after morning shower .

I am going to order some Wunderbrow, not used it before but I'm hopeful .
I don't fancy microblade or tattoo I did think about it but talked myself out of it.

It's interesting to know big brows are out , fashions go in cycles so when the mid 80s Sperm Brow is back , I am ahead of the trend 😅

I use sleek makeup brow kit, it has a wax and a powder, I only use the wax though

I used to have amazing brows, and received a lot of compliments on them. Age thins them out, so PLEASE young ladies, don’t over pluck. They don’t grow back. One thing I notice on my friends (40’s/50’s) is that thin brows are really aging.

I wouldn’t rule out microblading but I do see some awful looking black/ blue tattooed brows around and I don’t like the look of it.

I just took a picture of my eyebrows and I was surprised at how thick they are. I think my issue is, that I don’t think they look “groomed”. They are plucked, and dark, and an ok shape, but they don’t look polished, I think that is what I am going for. But then I don’t want to look made up, because I like a natural look.

So, happy to do some work, and drop some cash, to look effortless and natural 😝

TBH I say that only because I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so overdone brows would look out of place.

Charlotte Tilbury does a eyebrow mascara with a choice of shades.

Microblading is a life changer, but it’s pricey and it only lasts about 1 year, then it needs a touch up. I was worried about the outcome so I went to a top rated salon (Tracy Giles) and I’ll never look back. It’s the best money I spend on myself.

Poonu · 17/04/2025 21:30

Micro blade. Best money you'll ever spend on them.

Poonu · 17/04/2025 21:34

@somanythingssolittletime which treatment did you have digital/ tattoo/ micro blade and how much was it?

Poonu · 17/04/2025 21:35

I had microblade it was £300 (not at Tracy). I would describe it as the best treatment for permanent makeup

Microblading and it was around £400-500, then each year is £300

BeingScouseIsMySuperpower · 22/04/2025 08:52

I’m not sure about dropping hundreds on micro blading.

There are 2 young women in my exercise class who have brows to die for. They both have long dark brown hair like me, but their brows are immaculate and a bit bolder than natural, but don’t look made up. They are shaped really nicely, and seem to have a long tail and strong bit at the front. They aren’t laminated, which I think looks silly. Just, long, shaped and dark.

I came out with severe brow envy. I know they are a lot younger than me, but I just feel that if your brows look great, you look well groomed.

I'm another who had my brows tattooed some years ago but they still look great today. I didn't go for the black slug look and I was really pleased with the results. I would recommend tattooing but research carefully.
