You know those "how old do I look" threads? You can now ask ChatGPT!

ChatGPT now has a feature where you can upload images and it can also generate images. Now, even if you would never in a million years upload a photo on mumsnet for a bunch of strangers to comment on, you can ask ChatGPT questions about your appearance instead.

I took a very average selfie with no makeup and no filters and with wrinkles clearly showing. I uploaded it to ChatGPT and asked it how old it honestly thought I looked. It said late 40s to early 50s. I'm early 50s so I'm happy with that.

I also asked it to give me a makeover. It put makeup on me, darkened and changed the style of my hair, neatened up my eyebrows and gave me a bit of lip filler. I'm now considering making these changes in real life! Here I am with my makeover.

This is my makeover I can assure you I look nothing like this 🤣 although it got my age mid 30s spot on when I asked.

I was mid forties. Then I asked for brutally honest and it said nearer 50. But then very usefully it told me what I could do to improve my skin which I will actually try!

OK, I asked for brutally honest and it said late forties. But as I am late fifties I am totally happy with that. And the makeover pic was great and am totally taking it to the hairdresser with me next time.

Social media and even MN already uses AI to do this anyway so what's the difference?

I just tried and it refused to tell me what age I looked. Said that was a hard boundary it would not be able to do so under any circumstances?!

Maybe I'm asking the wrong thing?

I tried the same in copilot and it wouldn't do it. I did ask it to generate an image based on its suggestions around my appearance and it's given me a face transplant 🤣

Haha! Sounds pretty scary!? I just uploaded a recent photo. It wouldn't recommend cosmetic surgery or guess my weight either. Bloody spoilsports?! I don't know what OP is doing differently? 🤣

I've now got a looksmaxxing version of chatgpt that I googled after reading about it in the newspaper the other day. It evaluates my outfits and suggests changes, and has also given me ideas for skincare and tweakments. It's happy to guess my age, also, and when I asked it for honesty it was pretty brutal 😂

I just tried this. It thinks I'm 50 and that I look 'mature' and 'grounded' rather than 'aged'. I'm 53 and feeling rather haggard.

Mine wasn't a stock photo, I don't think. It's a much prettier and younger-looking version of me and is a pretty good likeness of me in my thirties! So I'm not posting it. But the hairstyle it gave me is lovely and I think would definitely suit me really well.

Mine said I looked mid 30s, then I said be honest and it said 45 and I'm 47 :-)

ChatGPT always gives me (more) wrinkles when I ask it to edit a picture of me 😂👵

I don't want to burst everyone's bubble, but the predictive language model that knows from it's data that society prizes youth and looking young, and is seemingly designed to be sycophantic and flattering, is telling you all you look younger than your actual age...
