Yet another wedding one…..

August wedding, Step Mum of Bride (although not been for long, and I won’t have a big part in the wedding) Dress ‘code’ is bright colours (not really my thing, I prefer neutrals) Mid 60’s, 5’6”, size 10, fair/blonde hair.
Quite into fashion. Initial thoughts are a trouser suit or Co-ord set of some kind. If it’s a dress, would have to be midi length and a bit unusual/quirky.
Prefer block colour/colours to floral.
Venue is NT property followed by nice hotel.
Budget £350 max.
Not too much to ask is it?!!

NB - I'm your age, height and colouring, OP, but somewhat larger and would look like a bag of spanners in it.
It needs a slender form, like yours!
(It is far more 'crisp' in real-life.)

it is indeed lovely, but I’m a bit put off by the frills I think - I’m a bit more minimalist. I could go for it as a ‘holiday’ dress, but it’s not really what I had in mind for the wedding, but thank you anyway!
(You could always try it - things often look very different on!)

Why are brides and grooms telling their guests how to dress? Unless they're paying for their clothes, they shouldn't be giving them orders on what to wear. If you don't suit bright colours, don't wear them!

Neveranynamesleft · 13/04/2025 18:14

Wear whatever you like and are comfortable in. Stuff what anyone else thinks or says.

Love the pink one

@Gwenhwyfar @Neveranynamesleft

I quite agree and don’t feel obliged to follow the ‘code’ but happy to do so if I see something I really like. If not, I’ll revert to my normal neutrals!

If you do end up in neutrals, given that new step-mother can be a tricky emotional position in a wedding, could you add a bright colour somewhere? Scarf, pashmina big hat, shoes etc etc Show willing.

@hopeishere

I love the red Me&Em one and had already spotted it as a contender!
Not thought to look at Ceffin, but quite like those too (although note that the blue one has sold out)
Thank you

@Tablefor4

That’s a good idea and may be my compromise
