It’s been what feels like a long winter. The wardrobe switch out has been done along including bringing out the shorts which I am wearing today ( Topshop mom denim shorts)

Lets talk wearing shorts and trying to overcome our insecurities that mean we don’t wear them.

I think that personally I do a service to humanity by not wearing them, but yes I do believe anyone should wear whatever they like.

It's sunny but freezing in Scotland today and going to rain for the next 10 days. Shorts were out for 2 days but back to "big coat" weather now 😂

I was browsing wellies this morning!

But I do have a growing list of ‘perfect’ shorts that I might not be afraid to wear for everyday strolls though parks and gardens. Though maybe not to adjacent shops and restaurants.

(Good grief - what am I saying? Thirty years ago I wore the smartest of smart shorts suits to my significant birthday gathering at the Ritz.)

Nothing stops me wearing shorts when the weather is warm & sunny. This is something I learned many years ago when I started regularly visiting the hot & humid parts of the southern United States, where everyone wears shorts all the time. I really couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks. If anyone is offended by the sight of my pale legs, that’s their problem. Not mine.

But I appreciate OP’s initiative. Hate my legs - they’re skinny with big knees and one of them is not perfectly straight!

Love the freedom of shorts in hot weather though…

I'm a size 18 with a belly, wobbly thighs and super pale legs. I tend to wear cycling style shorts with a long t shirt and LOVE it. If people don't like it, they have the option to look away 🙃

I’d have to be somewhere very very hot and humid to get my legs out these days. I used to have lovely legs! I know I shouldn’t care but I can’t seem to help it. I don’t judge anyone else who does though!
This is exactly the kind of thinking this thread is going to counteract isn’t it? 🤣 I’m ready to be convinced but can’t quite forget about the short, cellulitey, wobbliness. Paleness I can overcome with fake tan, that’s easy to do!

no sorry, I cant get my legs out. I have horrendous varicose veins (looks like Im smuggling marbles in my legs!). Really, really awful looking.
But when it warms up I will be getting my bingo wings out in little vest tops with my maxi skirts!

I used to be too self conscious to wear shorts as my left leg is covered with surgical scars.
Since I turned 50, I’ve happily worn the Bermuda ones, not yet this year though!

It's been nowhere near shorts weather up here in NE England. I'm more likely to wear a dress or skirt if it's warm, but absolutely get your legs out of you want to. I don't care if mine are white anymore but I do make sure they aren't hairy (my preference) and well moisturised.

I don't own a pair of shorts that fit and since I now have horrible bingo wings I no longer wear tshirts..... can't complain though because I could do something about my weight, but I don't. I'm glad that there are some really positive posts on here though!

I am old but my legs haven't really aged and I find a high waisted, vintage look is very flattering.

My legs aren't the best, but I wore the shorts on Friday and yesterday anyway. These shorts are generous on the thighs for any pear shapes like me.
