I’m an old first time mum (late 40s), and I need an outfit for my baby’s christening next month. I’m hoping you amazing fashionistas can help! I’m brunette, 5’6”, small size 6 but with curves and need to be able to wear a standard bra so no strapless, spaghetti straps etc. Baby is weaned so I don’t need nursing wear.
I look as exhausted as any 40-something with a baby so I want something that won’t wash me out. I often go for jewel tones especially red and forest green, so the christening colour palette is confusing me!
I get cold easily so I want something either with some warmth to it or ideally something I can layer underneath if it’s chilly.
I’ve always dressed young, but I’m comfortable with my age, and I don’t want to hide it any more. I wear a lot of Me + Em, All Saints, & Other Stories, but I am trying to update my style. I want to look classy and mature, and not like a millennial cliche stuck in the ‘00s. I love Angelina Jolie’s style - draped, structural - but I don’t have her budget! I’d prefer to spend under £200 but could go higher for the perfect outfit.
Ideally it would be washable but it’s not a deal breaker as I don’t get spat up on much these days.
I have this https://www.endource.com/product/allsaints-fleur-kuroyuri-dress/Ymgc9kbg-wABM9Xl which I bought last year but we ended up delaying the christening and it’s a bit too chilly for the season, and I’ve worn it a lot already. Plus I’m not sure it’s me any more. I think I’d like something new for this special day, which we waited a very, very long time for.
Please give me the benefit of your sage advice!
