How can I fix my nails?!

My nails have always been really good, totally neglected but always strong and nice looking. In the last 6 months they’re just terrible, splitting, breaking and sore. I’ve tried cutting them short, tried Sally Hansen nail hardener and they’re just terrible.
What can I do please?!

They look dry to me not that I’m an expert and the hardening stuff has likely dried them out even more. Something like solar oil may help

Check out this lady’s channel. She’s amazing.

Following with interest as my nails are also really bad! I've tried taking biotin, including more protein in my diet, iron supplements as well as cuticle oil and brush on nail hardeners, but they are still flaky and splitty and break off as soon as they get past my fingertips.
@Isanyonereallyanonymous Your nails, cuticles and hands all look quite dry - are you wearing gloves for washing up/cleaning and using a good handcream regularly? A cream and cuticle oil will improve the general look of your nails, although they might still remain short and flaky, like mine!

The Lenny Deighton Nail Repair Cream is excellent for helping dry nails.
My nails can't cope with gel nails, though I get them once a year for holiday and this brings them back to life.
This once a week and then apricot oil every day, a few times a day if you can.
Also buffing gently with a leather buff a few times a week bring back health and strength

Thanks everyone, I had no idea oil for your nails was a thing 🫣 I do have quite dry/flaky skin generally (hate it) so will try and nail a moisturising routine down (no pun intended 😂 ) and look at some of the suggestions for my poor nails, thankyou
