Help me find an outfit please

I have three smart ish events coming up, and need something to wear - ideally one outfit for all. I'm clueless. How can I find something?

I live in a town with small boutiques and Seasalt / similar, or can order online. I'm short, fat, 50s. I prefer casual & outdoorsy styles but need to look presentable. Also, shoes advice - need to be flat (grass and cobbles)! I tend not to spend much on clothes, so likely to be less than £100 for a dress, though could be trousers (short length) or a jumpsuit. Plus a jacket?

Help me or I'll be in walking trousers!
Thank you

What are the events and where do you usually buy dresses from?

I don't usually buy dresses or many clothes at all - Seasalt is my comfort-zone. It's been about ten years since I shopped for this sort of thing. I'm looking at this ... www.seasaltcornwall.com/belyars-jersey-tie-neck-jumpsuit or a linen trouser suit??

Events are daytime - posh family lunch, DC's graduation (x2), random formal all-day award event (as a guest).

I'd be happy in plimsol or trainer type shoes?

A linen trouser suit sounds like a good idea. As a short, size 14 fifty something, that jumpsuit would be frightful on me tbh. I saw a cute little jacket in Marks that might be nice with a skirt or trousers- let me see if I can find it. If I didn’t already have about 7 black jackets, I’d buy it myself!

Seasalt look as if they have a couple of linen suits

If you don't mind shopping online the Uniqlo / Comptoir des Cotonniers range does linen blend trousers and jackets that you can mix and match into a suit for a total of around £105. I haven't seen them for real but they did something very similar last year that I tried on (trousers and jacket) and they had a nice contemporary, smart but unfussy vibe - if I'd had an event coming up, I'd have bought them. They would work with flats. (I never wear anything else.)

The trousers come in two lengths which might be another bonus for you. They describe them as 'barrel leg' which I know isn't a popular shape with everyone but to me they look like fairly standard tapered summer trousers. (I suspect they've just coined the term 'barrel' because it's fashionable.)

The full range is here:

I think Seasalt linen is also pretty decent for the price, in fact better quality than Uniqlo, but their (Seasalt) trousers always look terrible on me - I don't know what they do to them - so I can't in all honesty recommend them.
