Affordable gradual tan 🧴???

Hi,
I love the tan lux gradual…. But it is pricey. I’ve tried skinny tan gradual which tends to be a bit orange.

Any recommendations? Thanks 😊

Lidl tan!!!!! I saw it on tik tok, £3.99 - researched and it's the same formula from the same factory as one for £48 a bottle. It is SO good I can't reccomend more xx

BeretRaspberry · 02/04/2025 12:24

I like the Bondi Sands one.

CheesePleaseCheese · 02/04/2025 12:27

I love the colour from Bondi sands and it’s so moisturising. But I can’t stand the smell.

Isle of paradise does a lovely one

I’ve just taken delivery of a new bottle (I get a fresh one every year at this time) and I can’t believe how strong the smell is. I can’t remember it being this bad before!!! It’s really put me off.

It’s such a shame isn’t it? It really is the most perfect tan, beautiful colour and soft skin. But the smell is just overpowering.
Try the Isle of paradise one in the light blue squeezy tube thing. The colour isn’t as perfect as the Bondi sands but the smell is slightly better, almost cucumber like.

Bondi Sands. The gradual tanning milk doesn't have that smell and gives a lovely golden colour.

harriethoyle · 03/04/2025 11:39

Kat Farmer on instagram recommends the Gatinaeu golden glow gradual tan face serum and I have a feeling she might have a code for a discount if it's face tan you're after

That’s what @CheesePleaseCheese and I have just discussed…I didn’t think it was smelly either and when I read her post I thought she might have just got an odd one, but the one I opened yesterday absolutely whiffs! I’ve had a shower since applying and I still keep catching a waft of it.

I wonder if they’ve changed something or someone had an accident with the ‘fragrance’ addition.

Hoolahoophop · 03/04/2025 13:04

@BeretRaspberry can i ask which you are talking about, on anther thread the gold bottle was mentioned, I've seen a blue one, then there was talk of milk?

I quite fancy trying some gradual tanning this year but am an absolute beginner, have no idea what the differences are.

For me I guess its easiest to use or most difficult to mess up that I am after. Don't want to be streaky or obvious! And least expensive in case I use it once and decide pale and interesting is easier! 😂

It’s this one I have (pic might take a while to load). As I say, it’s great and I’ve used it for a good few years but this bottle is overwhelming smell wise. I’ve contacted Bondi Sands to ask if there might be a reason why.

Ooh do let us know what they say!
I’m sure the smell has gotten stronger over the years. I started using it about 3 years ago, I wasn’t keen on the smell but it was fine once I’d showered. But now I find it too much, would be interesting to know if they’ve made it more pungent for some unknown reason

Another vote for this!

The smell doesn't bother me. I think it's supposed to be cocoa or something?

Wow! Thanks for this tip - I’ll pick it up from Lidl next time I’m in!

Dove summer revived

Was going to say this! It’s a mousse and it’s very easy to apply, and very forgiving of technique 😂

onwardsup4 · 03/04/2025 15:50

@GinghamSkirtooh is there a mousse i’ve only tried the lotion shall check it out !

EverythingIsComputer · 03/04/2025 15:55

Garnier Summer Body. It’s really forgiving if you can’t be bothered to rub it in well, doesn’t long and gives a natural colour. Usually on offer somewhere. For me the Dove one is really orange.

ScarletWitchM · 03/04/2025 15:59

I have the Palmers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze body lotion gradual tan - it’s got more of the cocoa butter smell which some people aren’t keen on but I don’t mind as it’s less of the DHA smell which you usually get with fake tans. You do have to use it for a few days consistently but it gives a nice natural colour for my pasty white skin!

MsDastardley · 03/04/2025 17:57

I bought a bottle of Bondi Sands gradual tanning foam for £3.99 in Home Bargains recently. Previously used the milk. Just opened it to check the smell. IMO a slightly alcoholic chocolate liqueur fragrance . Not too unpleasant. Went on nicely.

The foam is my favourite, great colour, goes on easily and it's pretty much foolproof. However, it seems to have been discontinued. I found it on Amazon for about £12 then it vanished and then I found it my local Home Bargains and bought lots.

BeretRaspberry · 03/04/2025 18:55

I’ve not heard back from Bondi Sands yet but I’ve just ordered some Sienna X gradual tan. That’s what I used before the Bondi Sands. Hopefully that will still smell ok!

XiCi · 04/04/2025 09:20

What does it smell like BeretRaspberry?
I've had quite a few bottles and the smell is quite strong but is a chocolatey cocoa butter smell so not offensive

XiCi · 04/04/2025 09:22

I'm off to Home Bargains now to see if I can find the bargain bondi foam. That's brilliant for legs as it's tinted, I didn't realise it had been discontinued

Sofiewoo · 04/04/2025 09:23

I have no idea why MN always recommends the dove one, it’s an awful colour and smells terrible.
The garnier one is a lot better than the rest.
