Another Prom Dress one…..

DD is looking for a prom dress and we’ve already done the online thing unsuccessfully. Other than independent bridal shops, can anyone recommend an actual shop where we can go and try on dresses? I’ve heard of Quiz, and they have a store at Lakeside, so bonus points for anywhere else at Lakeside we can visit over Easter!

Following! My daughter is desperately trying to find a dress. I can’t spend hundreds, maximum is £100. Just not having any luck

There's so many on eBay for £50 or less. Beautiful one from Quiz. I bet most have only been worn once.

DDs school has second hand dresses available, donated by previous pupils who weren’t going to wear their dress again.
does your school do anything like that? I think the money might go to charity, but not sure if it doesn’t go to the school.

Tk max
vinted
fb marketplace

MrsGaryKemp · 02/04/2025 00:09

Thanks everyone, school doesn’t have a second hand sale as far as I know. We will pop into TKMaxx, think there’s one at Thurrock.

Vinted etc are no good, it’s so hard to get the fit right, I just want to take her to a shop and try things on.

Quiz are great quality, pretty reliable with their sizes and their prom dresses are the same style most years. I would try one on in store and then pick it up (or a very similar one) on vinted.

If you are going to buy from quiz, they do a student discount.

I forgot to say, fb marketplace will also have loads of prom dresses at great prices and this way, you can try them before you buy.

If you’re near London you must go to Fonthill Road. Loads of wholesale shops and so much choice. My DD got a beautiful one worth £350 for £99

I used to live in Oxford.

I went to two balls, both dresses were from charity / second hand shops. It might be worth a trip if she is OK with second hand.

I just gave DD1 some money and she got her own online.
