Making vest tops look nice

Just this really. I wear leggings or leggings, but vest tops never look right. I wear cotton vest tops so they don’t cling, they’re the right size but yet I seem to have them cling to my rolls and look awful. I’m 5”2, big boobs and a belly… size 16. I’ve seen plenty of big and bigger women look good in vest tops, so as silly as it sounds, how do I make them work for me? They fit lovely on the chest but then seem to highlight my rolls. I wouldn’t say they’re tight; so I have no idea. Any bigger and the arm pits and neckline are too low. Any smaller and it clings. Where am I going wrong???

TBH I don't think I'd wear a vest top with leggings unless it was to go running.
I'd prefer looser bottoms like wide legged trousers or a maxi skirt, then leggings with a baggy tee. It all sounds abit too unforgiving otherwise!

agree With previous poster it’s the leggings. You need something like palazzo pants on the bottom if you’re going to have fitted vest on top.

sympathies though they never look good on me either and I’m a size 12 so I end up in dresses all the time which flatter my figure better

My general rule is tight on top or bottom but not both. I would get some wide legged trousers and see if they look better with a vest. Though not everyone suits everything. I look good in vests but terrible in a t-shirt. I think focusing on what you feel good in is key

I'm relatively slim but won't wear vest tops - too big a bust and too broad shoulders for them to look nice.
