Under eye concealer for over 40s

I’ve noticed my usual concealer is settling in my under eye lines and creasing. It makes me look wrinklier than I really am! Can anyone recommend a product that will cover my dark circles but not make me look like a wrinkly old crone? My usual is the maybelline under eye eraser with the sponge tip.

thanks 😊

As I have got older, I find that I have to use an under eye primer under the concealer. Annoyingly the one which works best is pricey: Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base. Elf used to make a fantastic one which was only a fiver but they stopped making it 2 years ago and I am still a bit gutted!

I tried the bobbi brown base and although it does help my concealer go on nicely, it doesn’t suit my skin type and it causes my make up to slide off my face.

I think it’s about using as little concealer as possible in areas with fine lines. I use the Huda beauty under eye colour corrector to do most of the work and then just a dab of the huda faux filter concealer in the darkest areas. Blend in with a damp beauty blender. Give it 30 seconds and then blend again over any settling, then use a setting powder over the top.

I like Fiera. You only need a tiny bit and it goes a long long way

ELF- the one in the plastic tube with a wand.

Better than Bobbi Brown IMO which is too watery.

Estee Lauder double wear concealer. Goes on creamy. But I always put an eye cream on beforehand.

I thought that was just for eyelids? Is it the same formulation as their previous under eye primer? Because if so that is very exciting news!

Loopytiles · 29/03/2025 15:50

Is the Elf product mentioned a primer or concealer?

Chuchoter · 29/03/2025 15:57

Pot concealer is best and applies with a sponge or fingertips and dabbed/patted on.

Chanel is the best but Kevin Auycoin, Nars and Benefit make budget friendly ones.

Haus Labs is amazing on my 56 year old eyes. It’s probably going to be the first consealer I’ll finish since I started wearing makeup as a teenager

Thanks for all the suggestions 😊

It's called Hydrating Camo Concealer and there are around 10 shades. £7 @MoodEnhancer

It's not a primer.

Ahhh. Thanks. The comparison with the Bobbi Brown base must have confused me because that is a primer, not a concealer.

I really want some real reviews on this. I've almost bought it but can't bring myself to checkout. I have dark circles to hide. The lines don't bother me too much but they look worse if I wear enough concealer to sort the circles. I can't win!

I have started using some Laura Mercier secret brightening powder on top of my under eye concealer, and it does a pretty good job at stopping my concealer settling into my lines. I don’t use a primer under my eyes (but I do use an eye cream).
