What to wear with denim pinafore dress in spring?

I love my denim pinafore / dungaree dress. I usually wear with tights and DMs in the autumn and winter. Can anyone help me style it for the warmer spring days? I don’t think it’s quite bare legs out weather yet.

Surely the only option is tights or bare legs?

Just wondering if I can get away with leggings and trainers? Or will it look dated.

I think it will look dated because of the sock issue, ankles showing with leggings looks odd now. But socks, leggings & pinafore veers into 80s kids tv presenter.

I don’t wear pinafores, but if I had that one I would pair it with some cropped, narrow jeans, over a navy cashmere t shirt.

You could wear sheer nude tights if you want a your-legs-but-better look.

I think anything will work if you pair it with converse.

The trick seems to be making your ankle look stacked and clumpy to draw attention to the feet or to erase them as much as possible, like bare legs and a tennis shoe

Im still wearing tights and boots with mine. Also Converse if the weather is dry.
I dont mind wearing socks and tights though. Im too old to pull off the light coloured option though so I either go with black or a dark colour (chocolate, charcoal, burgundy,etc) that is picked up in my top as well.

That would be for summer. Otherwise Converse high tops and tights. Maybe some coloured tights that are quite sheer.

Depending on length, could you wear short cycling shorts underneath for a bit of extra warmth and then chunky boots with socks?
