Neals Yard Perfume dupe

My favourite ever perfume has finally vanished from existence <sob>

I’ve worn their Rose perfume for over 2 decades and last year they ceased production because it was so expensive to make.

I managed to find 4 bottles (eBay and Vinted) over the past two years, but daily use means that I have just this weekend left with my all time, most favourite, well-loved scent. I’m gutted, so are my DC as to them, it’s Mum’s Smell 😭.

I’ve looked at other brands - Paul Smith, Jo Malone - brands that do Rose perfumes but nothing comes even close. They all smell too cloying and artificial. Neals Yard’s perfume smelt of genuine essential oil without the hint of additives, if you know what I mean.

Posting here in the vain hope that anyone else will be able to help.

can you just use actual essential oil?? I sometimes dab some on my pulse points.

LittleEsme · 29/03/2025 08:49

Yeah - that’s my last alternative. Genuine Rose essential oil is pricey though and I don’t want to spend unnecessarily if it’s not the right one.

Have you smelled Liz Earle 20? It has damask rose and pink pepper. I wear NY Frankincense and someone bought me Liz Earle 15, though it can't compare to Neals Yard it is a bit of a dupe.

L'occitane do a really nice rose perfume, smells exactly like roses. Also, i think there's a Yardley rose perfume that you can get in many chemists etc.

Perfumers Workshop Tea Rose EDT is worth a shot, it's been around since the 70s and is very, very cheap (inc on Amazon)

I got it a as a possible replacement for the now discontinued Paul Smith Rose and would say it is greener and fresher than that, although given the price I very much doubt it has many natural ingredients! Might be worth a try.

Alternatively (although I haven't tried it) Miller Harris Rose Silence might work for you. Fragonard also do rose perfumes.

Ooo amazing. Thanks everyone. That’s given me hope. I’ll start to investigate these!

I also love rose perfumes. My favourite is Rose Jam by Lush. Smells most genuine IMO.

evilharpy · 29/03/2025 11:13

Maybe Tom Ford Cafe Rose? It won't be similar/isn't pure rose but you might like it. There's also Rose Prick which I think is a bit spicier.

Actually I have a rose perfume from the Body Shop, it's just plain rose with nothing else. Not sure if they still sell it but might be worth a look.

I've tried that one!
I got on with it in the shop then felt quite head-achy when I started using it daily. It's lovely, but has (I'm certain) some vanilla in it so I find it too cloying.

Thank you! I'll add these to my list.
At least I'll have fun trying these out!

My nearest Neals Yard store is quite some distance away. I'll try and head there over the summer. I wonder if they ever have open bottles for testing/smelling?

M&S do a gorgeous rose perfume, think with pepper, reddish bottle with a black lid only about 12.00 a bottle. Not cloying and it lasts all day.

KateRose · 31/05/2025 15:41

my favourite perfume too, will try the suggestions thank you

Spip · 31/05/2025 19:46

Diptyque Eau Rose is a very rosy rose without being too cloyingly sweet.
