Primer under foundation

Hi, was just wondering how many people use a primer under their foundation? I have never used one but just wondered how much of a difference it makes? I have oily t zone skin but also areas a bit dry where foundation can gather like the creases created between the mouth and cheeks. I'm mid 40s. Thanks

I started using a Primer in my late 30s. Before that there seemed no need - foundation would just glide on.

I have combination skin with oily spots an d since my late 30s - I'm early 40s now - I've found that primer to be a game changer (urgh horrid phrase but works!).

I use No 7 or 'It works' and have found that it creates an illusion to minimise my pores, stops foundation caking, gives a lovely smooth base and my make up lasts longer. I use primer everyday now.

Thanks. Do you wait any length of time after putting on the primer before applying make up or just add make up straight away?

I use it (50s). I loved Suqqu when I had a sample but I've been disappointed with the full size product.

I agree with the PP re No7, skin illuminator is great.

I'm trying Bobbi Brown from the J L Christmas box next.

I'm unfortunately usually in a rush - so I probably only leave it a min or two. I just wait until it feels like it has 'set' (for want of a better word). But my foundation absolutely looks and last better with primer. You just need to try a few to check what suits your skin type and preferences. Sometimes they come in beauty advent calendars, but usually the people at the counter are happy to help. Just don't feel obliged to buy - try lots to find the one you like. Also get them to try it on your cheek - not the back of your hand.

i am late 40s, and i try and remember to use primer, as it just looks and feels better. I use the green primer from primark and it seems to tighten my skin and stop my pores looking big. It seems to stop it getting shiny too quick
