Profhilo Problem

I had Profhilo injections last Sunday and have been left with swelling in my cheeks just under my eyes and my jowl area is also swollen. I have been advised to ice and take antihistamines. I'm so cross with myself as I now look older than ever. The nurse who injected me is going to see how I am in a couple of days and said if no improvement she will get the doctor she works under to prescribe steroids.
I don't know if the steroids will be injected or oral.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice and did the swelling resolve?

I’ve been having Profhilo for years and have never had this. An allergic reaction maybe?

Profhilodisaster · 27/03/2025 09:34

My jowl area was itchy for a few hours, no redness , the other areas haven't been itchy. My practitioner said it could be because I'm run down.

These treatments promise a lot, often have unfortunate downtime, deliver little, cost a lot and don’t last long. Polynucleotide injections were a nightmare for me, though some seem to have benefited from them. Saving for a facelift, now!

@Bignanna , I agree and am so cross that I fell for the hype, I think once you reach a certain age , then surgery is the only thing that will really make a difference.

What went wrong? What did you suffer with?

I had very obvious blebs on my neck and lower face, the clinic said that was a normal reaction, but I couldn’t go out for 5 days-looked as if I had mpox! Was not prepared to go through the same again so didn’t have the other two lots of injections.

My first lot of injections were fine , the second lot not so much, I'm really worried that the swelling under my eyes won't go down and not sure if I want to have steroids either.

so it was just a temporary issue? From what I understand the benefits are over time. Many treatments have a down time.

I found I couldn’t tolerate the down time, looking like an alien. I had the impression that it was minimal, clients could return to work after- I certainly wouldn’t want to face people like that. In reviews I read that the results weren’t that great, so I wasn’t prepared to spend a lot of down time and money on this procedure.

Did everything resolve in the end? I had profhilo and though it didn't hurt too much and I had minimal swelling, the results were hardly noticeable. Definitely not worth the money for me.

It did resolve itself and I agree, definitely not worth the money.

So glad it resolved. Scary time wondering if it ever will. Not so bad if it made a big difference but what an ordeal for very little return. Xx
