Birkenstock sizing

I’d like to order a couple of pairs. I am a 7. Definitely a 41/7 and not a 40/7. European sizes seem to mix UK sizing up in some shops. Can anyone shove me in the right direction please?

I have found their sizing unique to them and have used their guide to determine my size.
I came out as a size smaller than for other makes.

Both myself and my partner size down in Birkenstocks. They are easy to return if you get it wrong.

PrettayGood · 23/03/2025 14:42

I’m a 36 in Birkenstocks, and a 37 in most other shoes.

I think you have to try the buggers on as much depends on the length of yiur toes and the toe grip.

AFAIAC they are equally uncomfortable whether I try on a 4, 5 or 6. I am a 5. The leather straps are hard and rub regardless.

The copies by Clarks and Jones brothers are far more comfortable.

I am the same as you, 41/7 for most brands. But for Birkenstock I get the 40 and that fits me. I recently ordered a pair of the Bostons in a 40 and they’re slightly big if anything. I think there’s a guide on their website where you can measure your feet.

I have worn them for years i am a 5 and usually buy size 5 but can also wear their size 4 .
The leather ones come up bigger than non leather ones.
I only buy them with an adjustable over the foot strap as i find they are quite a 'deep' sandal.

Remember too Birkenstocks have a narrow fitting as well as a regular. Regular is an outline of a foot & narrow is a shaded in foot on the sole & also the box. I’m a standard 7 & 40 is perfect for me.

I am the same as you, and I get the 40 in birkenstocks. I find they run a bit big.

unsync · 23/03/2025 16:33

Have you done their fit calculator? https://www.birkenstock.com/gb/things-to-know/fit-guide/

It's important to get it right, I see many people who have their toes right to the end of the footbed, same for their heels. You won't get good wear from them if you don't get this bit right.

im a 41 and get the 8

ramonaquimby · 23/03/2025 16:37

People tend to wear Birks too small with their toes overhanging. Your entire foot should be inside the footbed. Best to try some on

YourLuckyPearlGoose · 23/03/2025 16:42

I size down for Birkenstocks

Me too.

Futureisborn · 23/03/2025 17:48

Thanks. I will order different sizes.

Be aware their sizing has changed - I was a 38 narrow for decades and now I’m a 39. A friend says the same. Last year I bought some Arizonas to replace an identical pair, the new ones were a good centimetre shorter.
