has anyone bought from beyond nine? I’m not pregnant but perimenopausal … I love the idea of buying some trousers that don’t make me hate myself when I’m bloated. But they’re expensive: are they good quality? Does anyone know about the ethics etc? Also are they aimed at a younger demographic? (I’m mid 40s)

Your questions about their ethics and demographic are addressed by the brand on this page of their site:

Many of the products have reviews beneath the information. I haven’t worn the clothes myself but I’ve heard good reports from people who have, both online (including here) and in person. I think if you read the entire site with attention you may feel reassured.

ABOUT

Over our lifetime, women’s bodies can go through some incredible changes. This is hardly new news. But somehow it’s a reality that the clothing industry has chosen to ignore. All over the world, clothes are bought, worn and thrown away. And with every...

I haven’t tried Beyond Nine either - I keep looking at the Mabel trousers but haven’t committed myself to buying.

But if you like them, have a look at Rew trousers. I have quite a few pairs. They look good and they’re really flexible with sizes so good for ‘fatter days’. I wear a pair to work sometimes and my colleagues call them my “trendy trousers” 🤦‍♀️😂

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/03/2025 12:06

I bought some trousers and they were ENORMOUS. I’m usually a size 12 bottom and got what the size guide recommended (I think small) and they looked like clown trousers. I like an oversized fit but these were bonkers. my DP kept singing that MC Hammer song.

Having to pay shipping/returns was annoying so I wouldn’t bother again.

They do massive of influencer gifting which obviously worked on me, but also does put me off at some level.

BanningTheWordNaice · 23/03/2025 12:09

Some of their stuff is cute but at the same time even some of the influencers I’ve seen wearing it have given female mr tumble vibes albeit more stylish.

I have the Huxley jersey trousers in black (£79) and I love them! They’re less voluminous than the other designs and a nice upgrade on a jogger. Late 40s and also in peri. I’ve heard the sizing can vary across the designs. For the Huxleys I’d say a small is a 12.

ANagsHead · 23/03/2025 12:13

Ah … For avoidance of doubt I’m completely unaware of any influencers. I don’t follow them on SM and have no connection at all to the brand. What I’ve posted above is the entire extent of my knowledge of them.

(Though I do like the look of the clothes and wish they’d been around last time I had relevant surgery.)

I’m a beyond nine fan !
I have the ottie dungarees !
And the Lola dungarees in black and blue they are so comfortable !! Well worth the money I’m peri menopausal !
I have the Mabel trousers but I don’t really like them for myself personally I guess it depends on your style ! I feel like they make me look fat and I’m quite slim I don’t know why maybe just the way I styled them !
deffo recommend the dungarees though!
I’m a slim 10 5ft 7 and I order xs
Hope this helps x

Someone in my maternity class wears them. They're ugly as sin and really say given up on life, but we're all pregnant so it's acceptable. Why not just wear pyjamas, leggings or joggers if you need comfort that much at a more reasonable price point

EllaPaella · 23/03/2025 14:00

I have the Huxley trousers in black and love them. Good quality quite thick material.

NotinToTintin · 24/03/2025 09:08

Interesting mixed reviews …! what’s the quality like? I think I might have fallen for the social media hype which makes them look very high quality

I’ve had a mixed experience with them. I ordered a fancy jumpsuit for two weddings but the stitching started to come undone (midway through the second wedding!). I complained and they exchanged the jumpsuit for a new one but the stitching immediately started coming undone on this one two.

I exchanged for a different jumpsuit and some trousers. The jumpsuit was brilliant and I wore it throughout the rest of my pregnancy but it didn’t suit me post partum so I sold it on Vinted.

I loved the trousers (linen mables) but they developed a hole in the crotch after about 4 months worth of wear. I’ve emailed them about that and am waiting for a response. Whatever the outcome of that I wouldn’t buy from them again as the quality seems to be very variable.
