Long last dewy foundation and something under it?

I think it’s time to accept that my skin doesn’t suit EL double wear anymore. It looked quite cakey last time. My skin is still oily (I’m 47) with some acne scars. I don’t currently use anything under (no moisturiser or primer) Can anyone recommend something that would last as well as EL DW?

Have been trying this works primer camera balm... And Maybelline radiance foundation and its working for me... As in my skin feels good, no spots doesn't feel cakey which my previous clinque one was starting too and the foundation definitely stays on longer..

I really like two Mac products and use both as a primer when I wear foundation. I very very rarely wear foundation these days and I usually use either of these and a mayballine concealer that’s all, apart from a bit of blusher and mascara. I think as we age we look better without foundation or even tinted moisturiser but that’s just my personal opinion.

One is the mac hyper real serumizer. The other is mac strobe cream.
Both are fine on oily skin.
I have had compliments when wearing one of these lots of times.

one thing I have noticed is using a toner with Salic acid does help too

Oh the serum looks great. And you’re right I’d much prefer not to use foundation but I’ve so many acne scars so feel the need to

The Elf primers are my current love. I got the pink pore blurring one, but the white luminator tester was really good too. £10. It is making my old skin look about five years younger (let's not get crazy here, it's good but it's not a damn miracle).

Chanel foundation is gorgeous and I find it has a natural, dewy look to it even hours after application

NOTHING is as good as DW imo but there is Water Lauder Hydra Futurist which is good , slowly without being sweaty looking.

Bobbi Brown newest foundation- WEIGHTLESS SKIN FOUNDATION
I'm now on my 3rd bottle and love it.

There are masses of shades so you might want to test some. I went 2 shades darker when I was colour matched although I'm still using one of the Ivory shades.

If you want a primer I second looking at Elf or Clinique or Clarins maybe?

I’ve got ELF primer and don’t like it, I can feel it on my skin which annoys me. The MAC serum - do we think I could mix that with my left over EL DW foundation and maybe it would give a lighter look? Will also look at the other recommendations. Thanks!

I just remembered I liked the Morphe 2 skin tint, which did give a bit more coverage if that’s what your after. It worked well with the mac products above. Totally forgot about that, my toddler emptied the bottle on my bedroom floor and I never reordered it. I’m going to do that now though.

Have you tried EL Futurist?

howsthehair · 25/03/2025 21:38

Oh thanks, and no I’ve not tried futurist, is it good?

I really like it. It’s much lighter than DW but still has good staying power.
