SOS Engagement outfit help!!

Previously a long time lurker but then first time poster when (as you may have guessed from the username) I found my engagement ring a couple of months ago.

Fast forward and a “last minute getaway” has been booked for this weekend in Devon. DP has suggested “a nice walk after Sunday lunch to watch the sunset” (totally out of character) now I might be barking up entirely the wrong tree here but I think we all know where this is headed…

This is where I need a hand, usually I would wrap up warm in walking boots, leggings and a big puffer coat, but obviously would like to look somewhat more “put together” for the occasion. I’ve spent most of yesterday trying to find warm but occasion appropriate clothes/shoes (what footwear do you wear on the beach in winter????) only to pop outside today and it feels like spring!!

Please send help my way with suggestions of entire outfits all weather dependant and any shoe choices, Coat? Jacket? Fleece?

I need to try and order something today / tomorrow for it to arrive by Saturday 😭

Whereabouts in Devon? North coast looks a big overcast/rainy, south coast looks overcast but dry. Around 13 degrees. So I reckon you need a coat. I personally wear trainers on the beach this time of year. And would probably wear my favourite jeans and a soft jumper.

You will likely take a photo of your hand so get moisturising if they are still looking dry and wintery. Do you have time to get your nails done?

Is there a cosy pub nearby you can head to for a celebratory drink if the weather is bad?

Frankly I think it’s too late to worry about new clothes - you’ll just stress yourself out and arrive feeling tense and exhausted. Clearly your clothes have been good enough thus far.

Do other things. Go to the hairdresser - but not for anything strange or new. As a pp suggests, have a soothing, smoothing manicure. But maybe don’t change the appearance of your nails (I mean, if they’re usually natural, keep them so, just well conditioned.)

Buy the body lotion version of your favourite perfume (if relevant.) Polish your boots. Iron your clothes. Clean and polish any jewellery you wear …

I think north Devon!

Thank you both for advice.

Nails are already booked in for this afternoon (I get them done regularly and this was pre booked)

Valid point that it’s got me this far, I guess I just want to look and feel extra special than normal!

Surely if you make a particular effort for a special look when you'd normally be in boots, leggings etc, he will suss that you've guessed (or found the ring)?

I'd get your nails done yes, but other than that just wear what you'd usually wear. He might be gutted if he knows it's not a suprise.

PS congratulations!
