Hi - I am visiting a Uniqlo shop tomorrow. What are your best buys there? I am 49, size 12/14, 5 foot 6". TIA

Their jeggings are the best. Really stretchy and soft as velvet.

thornbury · 20/03/2025 11:52

Their sports bras, if you need that kind of thing. I also like their cotton casual trousers.

supersun23 · 20/03/2025 12:31

thank you

Linen shirts if they’re in yet. Sometimes the colours are a bit off; sometimes they’re lovely, so best seen in person. The same for the merino items. I got a lovely merino cardigan for £15 in the sale a couple of years ago and it’s beautiful and a really unusual and expensive looking colour.

The 3d cotton seamless jumpers. The ultra lite puffa jackets. Airism T-shirts. Their thermals are great as well but probably working times of year.

Souffle yarn jumpers.
Merino wool jumpers
Heattech tops.
The ubiquitous bag (round shoulder mini bag).
Edit: and how could I forget the puffer jackets!

I'm a similar size and age to you and I often by menswear as longer sleeves and baggier fit.

I find Uniqlo terribly hit and miss. Several times I've bought something, liked it so much that I've ordered it again in another colour only to find the second version was utter shite. So although I shop there, I'm wary of singling anything out and my advice is to go with an open mind and just rummage and feel the fabrics and try things on. I do like a lot of the Clare Waight Keller C range if there's anything left of that, but again I've not seen most of it in real life.

Good grief no. Not the soufflé. That stuff pills like nothing I’ve ever owned before. It’s 90% acrylic and polyester and it is just so unbelievably bad at pilling that I’m amazed it passed whatever quality control they have.

LOVE uniqlo, I wish there were more stores.
I actually had an online order arrive today - grey wide legged jeans, Andy Warhol t shirt, wide legged check trousers and a brown bra in wide necked tshirt.
All fit brilliantly and are really good.
I struggle with dresses as they don't tend to fit my boobs but everything else fits me really well.

Personally I think they've gone off the boil. I've bought least 20 pairs of black jeggings in the last 10 years, but no longer in stock at Bluewater or online. Their website is shite.

I agree! Having posted earlier, and recommended some things based on past experiences, I was inspired to pop into the Oxford Street shop yesterday, and wish I hadn’t… The quality isn’t as good as it used to be, definitely.

Largestlegocollectionever · 23/03/2025 14:28

I’ve just received an order - spent £300 ish and having to send everything back!
All of it such cheap material.

TheDutchHouse · 23/03/2025 15:18

Its not investment buying though, Uniqlo quality is reasonable for the price.

It used to be. Ive been a loyal customer for years. I have t shirts, blouses, dresses, shorts and a rain coat that have stood the test. Plus, like I've said the jeggings were amazing (I'm down to my last two pairs).

I walked all over the Bluewater store just last week. It isn't the same quality or design, and what there is is a much higher price point.

I've sung Uniqlos praises on this site for years. Not anymore I'm afraid.

I’ve also been a loyal customer and sung its praises for the quality and value, but it’s definitely Not What It Was.

Heat Tech thermal tops
Bra tops (cami tops with integrated bras - love these and have several)
Socks (every colour of the rainbow, now unisex, at last!)
Cross-body bags
Down filled gilets and jackets

beguilingeyes · 24/03/2025 13:39

If the jeggings have gone I'm going to be heartbroken.
