How often do you wash make up brushes?

After a torturous hour washing make up out of foundation brushes and getting brown stuff all over the bathroom and then waiting days for the things to dry I was left wondering, how often are you supposed to do this and how?

I’ll admit to being slovenly. Maybe 3 times a year if I’m lucky because it’s a hateful chore but I alternate 4 -6 foundation brushes. But surely people aren’t washing them after every use? Every week? Are you using shampoo and hot water?

Once every 5 uses or so, they are awful for harbouring bacteria, and then you’re smudging that bacteria all over your face…
There is a brush cleaning device that’s supposed to be really good, it was on dragons den and it’s been hugely successful. I’d like to get one, can’t remember the name of it!

I only wear make up about twice a year. I’ve never washed my brushes 😂

I use Isoclean as they dry really quickly. Otherwise I don’t do it anywhere near enough!

Once a month or so using this https://amzn.eu/d/irMr3EP I think it's the same as Isoclean without the aloe vera and a lot cheaper. Been using it for years and my face hasn't fallen off yet. Little dish of the liquid, swirl brush around, dry off on an old towel and done.

Now, proceed with caution but… I wash all of mine in a laundry bag with my other washing!!! 🙈

I used to torture myself washing 20+ brushes every week, then I saw someone mention on here that they chuck them in the washing machine so I gave it a go!

So far, after months of washing them like this, there’s only been slight damage to one of the handles, that’s it.

I would personally highly recommend!

Every Sunday, but I don’t use loads - foundation, bronzer, blusher, eyeshadow, kabuki, eyelash curlers, triangle powder sponge thing, done. I have two of each brush so have one set on/one set off.

I have a makeup brush cleaning machine thing that I think is about to come up on aldi special buys. It sort of wizzes the brush around in a cleaning solution to clean them them wizzes around through the air to dry them. I then just hang them over the edge of my dressing table to fully dry. Takes 2 minutes to clean them.
