JB2021 · 16/03/2025 22:22

I keep seeing adverts om Facebook for glaive, nail wraps. They seem great but given I struggle to pain my dominant hand neatly I've been looking for cheaper alternatives.

Has anyone use Lily and Fox, are they easy to apply?

I used to get biab gel nails with art allllll the time but maternity leave meant I stopped so thesecwould be an ideal alternative

I use Lily and Fox all the time and they are amazing. Takes about 10 minutes to apply, I also put a clear layer of nail polish on top, and I get atleast 2 weeks out of them. Best bit is that my nails grow really well when I wear them. Super easy to apply; if you go through their Australian website it’s free delivery to the U.K. and they are £1.99 each.

How's putting them on your right hand, if you're right handed?!

My nails are quite short, since not having gel!

How long does delivery tend to take from L&F?

Mine are short as well, but they still work pretty well. I’m a bit shaky but it wasn’t too bad doing my right hand, you can stick and unstick them until you’re happy. Delivery takes a little while, anything from 2 - 4 weeks.

Bippityboppitybooo · 16/03/2025 22:43

I use L&F, have for a couple of years now. Also right handed, they go on fine :) I have short easily damaged nails, and the wraps plus top coat stop them from always being peeled and destroyed. No hot water for a few hours after application, I did that the first time and they just floated off in the bath as the glue hadn't adhered yet!

If you have yours as short as me, you can cut each wrap in 2 and get 2 sets of wears from each set too :) Delivery is usually a couple of weeks from Aus site.

TemporaryCarer · 16/03/2025 22:44

Can I ask how you remove them, if they are glued on?

BoatsAndHoes · 16/03/2025 22:45

I can highly recommend ohmygoshnails.com, I have been using their wraps and semi cured gels for three years now and I am so impressed. Imy current set of semi cured gels have been on for 11 days and show no signs of budging.

JB2021 · 16/03/2025 22:46

Are L&F subject to any tax/customs charges?

Im a Lily and Fox convert as well

Cheap as chips so worth the punt.

They always send a free set for you to practice with

No customs to pay

Now the only thing that bugs me is the delivery time. My first oder came from Germany = about 3 weeks, this last order came from America, took so long I had forgotten I had ordered them - maybe 5/6 weeks

So don't be ordering easter ones now, but order halloweens ones - if that's your thing.

Like other posters, right now my nails are so short Ive got a set from half a set

I apply them before bed so they have plenty of time to cure. Usually I add a top coat but these I will be changing quickly ( Paddy Day Design ) I can get two weeks wear from them as a rule. Removal is easy, I soak off with nail varnish remover

Thank you!

Just ordered a plain colour to see how I get on with them, then will look at designs etc and order in plenty of tune for special occasions.

Do you think they help nails grow and get stronger?

lily and fox is it? 😂

InfoSecInTheCity · 19/03/2025 23:04

I’ve bought quite a few from Holy Grail Nail and been impressed, delivery is quick too.

Putting them on the non-dominant hand feels awkward and is a bit more fiddly but the benefit of wraps is that unlike with polish you don’t end up with a messy finish, it just takes longer to do, it’s hard to make wraps messy because it’s just a sticker, then you file off the excess hanging over the top of the nail. I always use a clear varnish over the top to prologue the life of the wraps,

WhyDoesItAlways · 19/03/2025 23:42

I used holy grail nail too. I usually buy the bog standard wraps. I put a gel top coat on and can get 2 to 3 weeks wear out of them. After about a week I tend to notice a bit of nail sticking out the top of them for some reason so I just file them back and they're good as new.

What an inane comment

When you get a question about a particular product, obviously those that use the product will answer

@JB2021 They only allow your nails to get stronger whilst you are wearing them, its like sticking a plaster over the nails after all

Im wearing them this week because I work in a kitchen and haven't been wearing gels for a while and with hands in and out of hot water all day, my nails have been splitting and flaking , so a week or so wearing wraps will give my nails time for the damage to grow out

Iwilladmit · 21/03/2025 01:08

Don’t be so rude @suki1964
The thread does read like a marketing post for one brand of wrap.

TooBigForMyBoots · 21/03/2025 01:32

My nails have deep ridges. How does that work with wraps? Will the ridges show through?

Ridges will show through as the wraps are quite thin. I've tried to get a photo to show you but doesn't show up very well. This is a set of wraps with a top coat of clear shellac.

Thanks @WhyDoesItAlways, they look pretty good. I think I'll give them a go.Smile

eurochick · 21/03/2025 18:47

I quite like wraps too. I have used Miss Sophie (to mix up the lily & fox love a bit). They are good quality. I’ve also tried some cheapies from Amazon and they weren’t great - very plasticky rather than made from nail polish. My nails are very sensitive and didn’t like the cheap ones but are ok with Miss Sophie.

HermioneWeasley · 21/03/2025 18:51

I use Lily and fox too. My op tip is to have two layers of base coat before you put the wraps on so when you remove them it’s less harsh on your nails

Disaster2025 · 21/03/2025 19:04

Is removal as difficult as gels - I.e. soaking and filing?

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 21/03/2025 19:20

I use Lily and Fox all the time, takes a little while to get here but great wraps, easy to use, i use a base coat and then nail polish remover to take them off.

I use Glaize, the first lot I had made to measure and they were great. I went with generic sizing for the second lot and I’ve been less impressed as they’re a bit wide for my nails. I would happily to return to the custom type though.
