Flounces

I'm so over flounced, tiered dresses/skirts ANYTHING.

I've never liked them and I've tried to be patient, waiting for the fashion to pass. And yet, I've today looked at yet another dress I like the look of, only to find it has a flounced skirt.

They're so naff! Go away already.

Up for any plain/solid colour (100% no patterns) totally unflounced dress suggestions btw.

Agreed. And wtf is going on with sleeves?! Who wants as much material on each arm as over the whole dress?

TheGlamour · 13/03/2025 08:37

Margaret Howell?

Studio Nicholson

Lemaire (Apart from those two ruched oddities.)

BruisedNeckMeat · 13/03/2025 08:38

Agree. I hate these puffy sleeves on everything, they make me look like a milkmaid!

PuppyMonkey · 13/03/2025 08:48

Agree OP. I’ve stayed in shift dresses throughout this horrific period - people are going to look back at photos of themselves wearing the current fashions and cringe. Grin

I hate them. I have broad shoulders, and shoulder frills and puff sleeves make me look like a flamboyant linebacker.

They’re impossible to iron, as well.

I’ve been looking for a couple of ‘nice tops to wear with jeans’ for ages, and every single one has some kind of fussy design feature. Bloody grim.

Uniqlo have unflouncy dresses in solid colours.

Or, if you can afford to pay a bit more, Community Clothing.

I love the look of Uniqlo but they get horrible reviews for delivery/returns. And I'm not sure about sizing?

I love them. I have small shoulders and enormous hips so they balance me out and the huge arms work for me too. I can never get a shift dress to fit.

I've never had any issues with their delivery or returns. I've had things delivered the following day when I'd only paid for standard. They do charge for returns which pisses me off but they're hardly alone in that respect.

The sizing can be random though, particularly when they do collaborations. I've recently bought some trousers from their 'C' range and had to size down three times!
