Alternative to hairspray

I have very light, thin, soft, flyaway hair. It's naturally wavey at the front and poker straight at the back with a fringe.
I've recently discovered that hairspray irritates my skin and despite trying to apply it only on my hair, my skin is still irritated.

I get the bus to work and especially this time of year, I get to work looking like I've made zero effort with my hair. Doesn't matter how I style it, my fringe is sticking out in random directions, my fly-aways are sticking straight out, I just look so unkempt.

So is there any miracle hair cream/serum/balm I can use to help?

Gel? I sometimes use it to smooth down unruly hair. I'm not talking about saturating your hair with it. I use a small blob emulsified in my hands with a dash of water, then smooth it over my hair where hairspray would go. It works.

Otherwise you can buy smoothing balms in stick or pomade form that you can apply to your hair in the right places. They're not heavyweight so they won't make your hair greasy or sticky unless you apply loads.

I'm the same but found Pantene spray doesn't irritate me, have you tried that?

I find styling products much better than fixing products.
I like ColorWow products. There are so many depending on your hair.
But every brand has stuff. Look for a cream or mousse based product that you can apply to your hairs only
