Summer dresses

I have to cover up from the sun. I also get very sweaty and am very fussy about the fabrics I will wear. I'm really struggling to find summer dresses I can wear to work and casually.

If I search modest fashion I get ankle-length synthetics. Much of it looks stunning, but not what I'm after.

Please help, oh Stylistas.

Here is what I need:

Natural fabrics, or with only a small amount of synthetic. Machine-washable.

High-ish neckline to cover decolletage.

Sleeve length halfway between shoulders and elbows, or longer.

Dress length to cover my calves.

What I would like:

Swish. I need to be able to move around easily, squat, sit, stand etc. So nothing too tight or tailored.

Shape: I am 5'8", size 16-18, with no waist. Belts and sashes just emphasise this and make me look like a sausage. Shapes I like are swing, trapeze, A-line, tea-dress, empire waist, princess seams.

Collar to cover the back of my neck. (Can compromise on this.)

Budget: £100 max. Preferably rather less.

Try East, Toast, perhaps even Cos. They usually have a good range of loose dresses in natural fibres.

Have you looked at Albaray? I have a dress from there that almost exactly matches your description.

Have you tried searching for ‘midi’ dresses rather than modest? I don’t think the shape you’re looking for is unusual.

The budget is £100 maximum. East's cheapest dress is £119 - most are more. Toast has nothing below £150- most are more

Agree with Rainallnight. It's hardly an unusual style of dress. "Midi cotton dress" would be a more useful search term than "modest"
