I have recently managed to lose a good 4 stone, I'm still losing but needing a basic wardrobe meantime. I used to wear baggy plain black tops all the time, just with basic black trousers but now I'm looking for something more varied and far from my usual. I don't really like florals, but open to any suggestions tbh. I do like a floaty top and always need the length to cover my tummy (confidence still catching up). I don't even know where to shop anymore, I'm 48 now so not too young but definitely not too old.

You sound like me! I’ve gone from a 28 to a 16/18 but struggling to reduce my stomach in-line with the rest of me. Always wore long floaty tops but now go for shorter lengths and more fitted.

Good shapewear is a god-send (Next or M&S are really good).

For clothes, I swear by Next. Love & Roses, Friends Like These, and Jolie Moi are some of the brands they carry that I really like.

For funky knitwear, I love Sugarhill Brighton. Their sizing can be quite generous though so I tend to size down.

Congratulations on your weight loss. It is a lot easier to find stylish clothes at size 18. You could look at:

Gather and See

Albaray

Kemi Telford

You probably already shop at

Simply Be but may feel more comfortable in their denim now.

You may not have shopped at

Community Clothing before, though some of their clothes go up to a size 24. You will be able to access more now though.

Firstly I would caution about getting too much because you'll waste money and have to throw things away, I have done this!

Secondly, Ive found the opposite about my stomach, I used to try to disguise it by having longer tops or floaty tops but they make me look huge and now that I wear a belt and tighter short tops it looks less fat. My stomach is the biggest part of me, its 34 inches and my bra size is also 34 inches!!! It wont go down so I need a belt to pull it in.

Are you continuing to lose weight. Congratulations by the way ,you have achieved a wonderful weight loss. Have you considered using Ebay or Vinted so that you do not need to spend a massive amount until you need a further investment due to more weight loss success. Do you like charity shop clothes as you could get a capsule wardrobe and then resell as needed.

Hi, I have just re-read your message and I see you are continuing to lose more weight. Seeing as you used to just wear black why not consider getting a few tops in different colours. There is plenty of info on colours that will suit you on the net. I reckon you will feel better if you start to wear different colours .I love colours myself and can understand why people like black but there is far more choice available.

I'm at a similar stage OP in my weight loss journey and I don't want to spend a fortune on clothes. So most of my current stuff is White Stuff, Next or M & S. It's a joy NOT to have to shop in places like Evans, Yours and Simply be! I tend to stick to jeggings as they're flat fronted, with longer length tops in bright colours. Tunics are fine on me but I've bought more recently in a size 16 rather than 18 so they're not too drowning. I've spent more money on some nice cardigans that will fit whatever your size, some nice scarves and more expensive boots. This is my sort of daily look - https://www.whitestuff.com/p/4401/marta-printed-cotton-tunic/BLK_PR

Thanks everyone, some good links there for me to check out. It's hard to adjust to the freedom to dress now after years of hiding under black!
