Skinpen or RF microneedling

Hi, has anyone tried skinpen or RF microneedling for fine lines? I’m almost 41 and have a couple of fine lines that have recently appeared above my lip. I don’t want to go down the fillers route so looking at different options to help improve my skin. Thanks

I’ve had a course of three professional micro needling sessions (spaced 4-6 weeks apart) each year over the winter months for the past 5 years and think they are great for boosting collagen production and evening out and plumping the skin generally. There is some downtime (up to a week) and SPF and general aftercare crucial for a good result. Sessions are pricey and you need an experienced practitioner. If your lines are just starting to appear, consider altering your skincare to include a tried and tested retinoid such as Tretinoin, which will speed up cell turnover (to gradually smooth and even all areas of your face, not just the lip area), boost collagen production and also fade areas of pigmentation. I have a custom formula made for me by Monderma, who send it to your home address once a month.

Thanks @BlackCat25 do you have regular microneedling? I’ve recently started the medik8 retinal with the plan to build up the strengths before starting tretinoin

Yes, as I mentioned I have three sessions per year, but no more. You can start Tretinoin on a low strength and see how you go. Don’t be in a rush to work up to higher strengths as ‘slow and low’ works really well too. You can also alternate days when you use it (on/off/on..), layer with moisturiser before or after as necessary. Most people dive in with high strength actives and wonder why their skin can be slightly irritated or dry. It’s a process - but so worthwhile as the results are second to none for everyday skin issues. Monderma have been brilliant in listening to my own skin goals and helping me achieve and even surpass them.
