Ear rings.

After many many years of wearing any sort of earrings with no problem, gradually I seem to have become sensitive to any material at all. Now I can only wear even gold for a couple of hours before my ears get sore.

Any solutions?

You can get hypoallergenic earrings.

It is likely that to cut costs, earrings including those labelled gold and silver have an increased nickel content. Other body jewellery is often made from stainless steel or surgical steel. Try searching for steel earrings.

As an alternative, give the posts 2 coatings of a good quality clear nail polish. Allow to dry untouched for 2 days so it's rock hard. This forms a barrier between the metal and the ear.

You probably developed an allergy to Nickel. I suggest using Titanium earrings. The are replacement "titanium hooks" for danglies. You can also wear high quality gold, but notice that many white gold alloys contain Nickel.

I used to have this but it seems to be much better now. High carat Indian gold and stainless steel (from a piercing/tattoo shop) were recommended to me. It was the same with rivets in jeans so I did the nail varnish trick on them.
