If you’re an autumn what do you wear in spring?

I am definitely an autumn, happiest in greens, browns, rust, mustard etc…& then it comes to spring & the only greens are spring greens (which wash me out) & everything is floral and pale. Fellow autumns, what do you do?!!

Wear the same stuff as I do the rest of the year!

I might introduce more salmon pink and cream, but moss green is my base neutral that I wear all year round. Tomato red and french navy for summer wear. Some of the oranges as accent colours.

I also do a bit of navy and orange but I find it impossible to get much in the deep greens I like. Where are you shopping @TheLongRider ?

My greens have been accumulated over the years. There are some good greens in Zara at the moment. My favourite olive green dress is from GAP from at least 5 years ago. I have a beautiful olive green velvet jacket from Etro. H&M are good for autumn colours usually. I know my shades reasonably well so I pounce on items when I see them. Massimo Dutti has some great chocolate browns, burgundy and moss green items at the moment.

Forest green is trickier to find, it's not very popular and is overtaken by Christmas greens. M&S had some good deals last season and Zadig and Voltaire have a gorgeous teal velvet suit.

Snowmanscarf · 26/02/2025 21:53

I think I wear most colours, except maybe berry colours - mustard yellow, navy, cream, etc

Build up options over time. Stock up when you see 'perfect' items, I've been known to buy multiples copies in the same and in any perfect colours. .

Just ride it out when there is nothing around for you.

Dye simple cotton T-shirts and jeans, Dylon olive green on white or Dylon emerald green on blue for a deep Teal colour.

First analysed in 1985, I now own vanishingly few things which are not in my colours. Be ruthless in not buying anything new unless the colour and shape / style are perfect.

Disguise anything too good to replace (or for which no replacement is available with a scarf in a perfect colour near your face.

Enjoy having the perfect outfit for every occasion.

I'm a soft autumn & can often wear soft summer shades so denim blues, dusky/cosmetic pink shades, a lot of greens bar the bright ones & lots of tans/creams/browns. Loads of tan suede with denim combinations around at the moment.

I went into Monsoon today and saw peachy coral, lobster red, and sage/khaki greens. Depending on the brightness they could suit autumn colour palettes.

henlake7 · 26/02/2025 22:25

I wear the same colours TBH throughout the year. The only thing that changes is how many layers I add!
I'm ok with some pastels like baby blue or sage green but I'm hating this current trend for butter yellow....looks hideous on me, I'm def a mustard yellow gal!

JasmineAllen · 26/02/2025 22:51

I'm a vibrant autumn and love a bright warm green, I'm not sure what you'd call it. Not olive green and not a cool green. The sort of green that looks good with gold jewellery and a tan and also complements coral, another great autumn colour.

I also like a burnt orange, off white, a warm, nutty brown and a warm blue.

I just stay away from anything that looks like a cool colour, ie more blue tones than yellow and also avoid black.

Camel. With mid to dark grays or occasionally light brown, tan or olive.

Luckily white also suits me.

This is me too - soft autumn so can dip into soft summer.
I love a deep chambray blue, air force blue, dusky rose, tans, peachy creams.

I also have a gorgeous French navy midi dress that I wear a lot in spring/summer.

I still wear my olive greens - they look gorgeous with tans and peachy creams I think plus always good with medium denim.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 27/02/2025 05:18

Normally some combination of navy, khaki/olive, cream and tan. And mid-but-not-bright blue denim.

ArtMonster · 27/02/2025 07:40

Interesting that you all do what I do & wear the same colours. I guess I find all the spring colours (yellow, bubblegum pink, baby blue, grass green) hard to avoid. I love them on other people but they do make me look grey & ill. I find summer ok - lots of olive, khaki, burnt orange, deep blue - but spring tricky. Will have a look at both Massimo Dutti & Monsoon.

Uniqlo seem to cater mostly for autumns with their sludgy colours.

I struggle to buy clothes at this time of year as I am a jewel winter. Right now the shops are full of beige and spring colours that do nothing for me, so I feel your pain.

Snowmanscarf · 27/02/2025 12:19

Joe Brown often has good colours for us Autumns, and maybe fatface.
