Post Partum Hair Loss.. inevitable?

Hi everyone,

I’m 12 weeks PP with my first baby, and whilst my abs remain missing and my eye bags would not be allowed on RyanAir, my hair is the best it’s ever been.
From what I’ve read, I can expect to lose this in clumps in the next few weeks. I’m being targeted left, right and centre by “miracle product” adverts, but am sceptical to say the least. I’d rather not lose cash as well as hair, but happy to spend if there’s anything that can help with this. My hair is usually very thin so I’m dreading it being even sparser than before. Have any of you had personal experience of a product that worked? Thanks x

Probably not exactly relevant but in my experience it's not been that my hair has felt thin, it's just that I have these ridiculous bits sticking up for ages until they grow to a length that can be blended in with my normal hair length. I'm 16 months pp and I still have a stupid fringe that I didn't ask for. This is also my second baby so I have a longer set too. I'm not saying it's THE reason that I wouldn't have a third child but it's on the list 🙈

Not everyone loses hair like that - I think you don't lose as much as usual as hair is linked to your immune system and that damps down during pregnancy and restarts PP.

I didn't lose my hair until recently, years post menopause. However I had ultrafine hair that would lead hairdressers to say , oh you've got baby hair.

I lost loads but not until I stopped breastfeeding - it took a while to grow back but it’s great again now.
