Wedding Jacket help

I’m useless at this kind of thing!
Have ordered this deep green jumpsuit for a wedding in September (I know it’s ages away!).
However, it might be nippy. Assuming I actually look alright in it; what style jacket, shrug, bolero, shacket or whatever, do I look for?
I’m quite an unconventional dresser. Size 14\16. 5’ 9” with a menopause belly that will need some minimising! Have black shoes.
Hate blazers and if it’s relevant I’m step-mum.
Second marriage so quite relaxed. Thank you!

None of the above. If it’s a day event, wear a coat. Or maybe a kimono style wrap jacket? For autumn I would have suggested a fur but Sept could still be warm.

Thank you. That’s the thing. Could be freezing or could be boiling!

Phase 8 have these - I think your jump suit is from them.

Do you want plain? If you're open to a pattern a kimono thing from one hundred stars might work?

TizerorFizz · 24/02/2025 20:07

@SB2527 This is the sort of kimono jacket I was thinking of. It’s utterly gorgeous. (I think!). Wedding outfits always look great with a chic floral addition.

Thank you! That's not something I would have thought of. It's lovely. I'm off to do some searching!

More than happy for pattern. Thank you. I'll have a look.

@SB2527 These are cheaper - the Next one is quite Autumnal. The other advantage of the decent wrap jacket is that you can smuggle a cardi under it if it’s freezing.

It’s not a particularly unconventionaljumpsuit.

And I think it would look vile with a coat and worse - much worse - with one of those ghastly short kimono things.

Something like this?

Thank you. Yes the other one was a bit pricey!
These are nice and I'd get more wear out of them after.
Thanks so much for your help. I hadn't thought of something like this. 😃

I agree the jumpsuit's not particularly unconventional, but mentioned it as I'm more than happy to wear something a bit more "out there" 😃
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look.

Thank you. It looks lovely. I don't think I'll look as good as the model though! 😅

@SB2527 Yes. The first jacket does cost more but I think it would be a “go to” jacket for any event so you might get a lot of wear from it. However a floral tie jacket that incorporates a colour that goes with the green would look really smart. The expensive one makes accessories easy too - cream.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 25/02/2025 13:42

Off topic slightly but that jumpsuit looks more deep blue than green to me? What's it like in person?

It's a very dark forest green. The husband thought it was blue but he's colour blind! 😅

@SB2527 I don’t agree the kimono jackets are vile. There’s no reason why a summer weight coat would not look good too. A non crease heavier cotton. You can of course do double green. Not entirely sure about that as it’s a fairly casual jacket. Looking at Red magazine, they advocate floral dress. As you are wearing forest green, a floral jacket would be a decent choice. The Me&Em green jacket is £325. Does it look it?

Richtea67 · 26/02/2025 18:14

As am alternative to the floral...how about a bit of animal print? On the pricey side but you would get loads of wear out of it...if it's your sort of thing!
