Dramatic dress for plus size wedding guest

A relative is getting married and we’re quite a… dramatic (!) family so there will be lots of fab clothes on display etc.

Lots of dancing and talking and fun etc.

I am on a weight loss journey (4st so far) but I’m still very fat so whilst I feel much better I’m still conscious I want to feel comfortable in what I wear.

I was thinking about an African print dress and found this - is it OTT? I kind of love it i think but don’t know if it’s massively out there. I want to stand out in a good way - not a ‘wtf’ way!

Thank you - I was looking on all the ‘usual’ places but everything was quite tame. Whenever I wear something traditional I don’t feel like me. I look at that and feel happy.

Try it on with the right shoes and hairdo and if you look great in the mirror, go for it! But it won't suit everyone so do it in time to look for something else if it's not your style.

I’ll need a bit of a tan which I can cope with. I’ve found a nice big flower for my hair so I’ll order it soon and see how it looks.

I have four or five items from them over the years. The cotton is lovely and all the dresses have pockets. I have a couple of their jumpsuits that I use for festivals and clubbing and they always get compliments.

@TheLongRider that’s great to know - I’ve sewn with Ankara and it’s gorgeous but I’m not good enough to make a dress like that. But the trousers I made get compliments every time I wear them.
