I'm in hospital and trying to get better. Would it be cheeky if I asked if anyone would share the outfit they like the best and how they put it together . I'm 5.6 and a size 16 to 18. I think it would cheer me up give me a different focus

What's the sizing like on Cider please?

Floisme · 22/02/2025 08:43

I hope you feel better soon op. I had a bit of a health drama recently and spent a lot of the time in joggers and a vintage silk dressing gown that really boosted my mood. Have you got something nice to wear in hospital and when you come home? Nice pyjamas? Dressing gown? Favourite cardigan?

Favourite everyday outfit at the moment is: wide leg cords (Mine are second hand toast but M&S, Uniqlo and loads of other places have had them)
Knitted tank top or knitted waistcoat - I have a few, ranging from a spendy Scottish fairisle to an orange Primark one from a charity shop. They're all loose fitting.
1970s shirt - any shirt will do really but I'm into clashing colours and patterns at the moment.
If I need extra warmth, a tweed jacket.
Finishing touches: a vintage brooch and a men's silk paisley scarf.

Get well soon.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/02/2025 09:04

Hope you’re well, @Floisme I always love the sound of your outfits.

We’ve just been away for a few days and I enjoyed the people watching opportunities. The outfit I liked best was on a woman aged around 60 with a sharp white bob. She was wearing cropped wide black trousers, black and white trainers and a black raincoat. Nothing exciting but she looked really stylish whilst also being very casual and weather appropriate.

Love that green jumpsuit. I would look like Shrek in it, but I can imagine it looking absolutely stunning on somebody else.

This is a very pleasant thread

totalnamechanger · 22/02/2025 09:32

I‘m sorry you’re not feeling well, OP. I hope you are out of hospital soon. I also find thinking about clothes, colour, patterns, shapes uplifting at difficult times.

I’ve just bought this https://www.carolinecharles.co.uk/product/delilah-taffeta-skirt/

I’m going to wear it to a London hotel lunch with a visiting chef this afternoon. I have an egg yellow skirt I bought from the Uniqlo c collection which I wear a lot. These are currently my only skirts. It offsets the general navy, black, trouser looks I mostly live in for work. I use Stylebook- which does take a while to set up but has been my most satisfying app by far. Recommended by a mumsnetter!

WhatWasPromised · 22/02/2025 09:49

Hope you’re feeling better soon OP.

Current favourites are:
Leggings, oversized (mens) carhartt t shirt with a checked shacket over the top

Or black barrel leg cargo trousers with a boxy cropped t shirt.

Both worn with green adidas classics.

For something dressier I’m off to an event this week and have this dress arriving today. Hopefully it fits!

I hope you feel better soon.

I love a bit of dopamine dressing and am all about the bubblegum pink, apple green and turquoise.

Am the same size as you if a bit shorter and am embracing drawing to make me happy not thinner. So very much all about the bright sweatshirt and coloured trainers with some wide legged joggers/trousers in the middle. I am eyeing up this at the moment: www.sugarhillbrighton.com/collections/sweatshirts/products/noah-sweatshirt-pink-shark-embroidery

TheRavenKingsDaughter · 22/02/2025 10:30

Sorry to hear of the drama, @Floisme and hope all is resolved. It’s good to know your wardrobe brought you some comfort. Oddly enough - perhaps because of this thread - I woke up wondering how I’d fare in hospital … I haven’t owned a dressing gown for decades and am feeling prompted to invest in one.

That Karen Millen dress is magnificent.

If you’d care for dopamine dressing without the sharks you may like American Vintage, @myladyjane. (Or OP once you’re home!)

I have this dress and always feel fabulous in it (I have 3 different colours) as it shows off my waist. I alternate between wedge sandals, flat sandals or heels depending on what I'm wearing it for. It really doesn't suit a jacket so I wear a white cardigan.

I think this would suit me too. Where is it from? What are the other colours? Great for work too

I wore this for the first time this week for a restaurant lunch. I wore it with long black suede boots. I also have some camel coloured suede boots that it would look good with. The dress fitted beautifully and received lots of compliments. I can see me getting a lot of wear out of it.

That's a great dress

Ah, It's an old Pepperberry dress. You may find one on ebay/vinted. They did one in black, a purple one (Ithink) and another navy version (the white stripes are different). I have black and two navy's, I used to wear them to work a lot (and interviews). Now I keep them for special, as I can no longer get dresses to fit me i have to keep hold of the ones I have.

@Dollyparot200 hope you feel better soon!

I'm a size 16 OP and have this green velvet jumpsuit from Cider. I've worn it a few times and everyone always comments on how gorgeous it looks. I feel fabulous in it! It's only about £25 ish too so an absolute bargain! Hope you feel much better soon :)

Can I be nosy and ask what kind of build/how your size 16 is 'distributed'? I'm a 16 but very wide around the ribs/bust and hips and I've always assumed jumpsuits would look bloody awful on me...

Gliblet · 22/02/2025 13:00

I have this in the purple and also a wine/red and it never fails to get compliments every time I wear it. It's a definite favourite. I can pair it with black tights and heels or long black or brown boots, and usually wear fairly plain/simple silver jewellery.

Ah I hope you are able to go home soon, people on here have really good ideas. It is worth bearing them in mind.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/02/2025 13:07

There’s a bit of sunshine here today, so I’ve activated my dusty pink trench coat. There’s only a very few weather conditions and outfits it works for, so it’s nice to get a chance to wear it.

I have big boobs and fairly big love handles! Not much of a belly but I'd say evenly distributed otherwise 😅

Edit to say I'm also 5ft 6 so on the taller side which helps I guess? There are some curvy models wearing jumpsuits on the Cider website so I'd definitely give it a go!

Meanwhile33 · 22/02/2025 14:56

@totalnamechanger that skirt is stunning! What will you wear it with?

totalnamechanger · 22/02/2025 16:57

Meanwhile sadly I’ve had to postpone my hotel lunch as the person I was going with isn’t feeling well … but I’ll likely wear it with a slim black polo neck and some black heels. If it’s a warmer day I have a black silk shirt and jacket. If I was buying something to go with it, rather than something I have already I might try it with purple (which suits me but I don’t have anything in at the moment) or navy.
