Tangled hair

Hello, does anyone have any advice on how to detangle long, thick hair? It’s mine. I don’t know how it’s got so tangled as I wear it up in the day and plait it at night. I’ve been brushing it with the tangle teezer and it doesn’t seem to go all the way through the hair, just sort of glides over the tangles. I’ve asked DH to help but that’s been a bit hopeless! I’ve got a wet brush and a comb as well. Is it best to do it wet or dry? Any advice welcome, thank you.

Johnson & Johnson spray leave in conditioner for kids.
Be prepared to use a lot of it. I don't use tangle teasers because I feel they don't brush my hair properly. I use a denman - What I would refer to as a proper hair brush. Start at the bottom & work your way to the top.

Have you tried a detangler? Get a spray bottle of water, lightly spray your hair all over so that it's damp, and then I swear by this detangler spray Mane ‘n Tail Detangler Spray – The Tangles and Knots Solution, Reduce Frizz, 355 ml (Pack of 1) : Amazon.co.uk: Beauty. It leaves your hair lovely and shiny and gets the knots right out. I use a denman brush and that combined with the spray gets them out with very little effort.

Love a denman !

Thank you both! I do actually have a Denman somewhere I think so will dig that out and have a go with some spray. Really appreciate the replies.

Is your hair curly or relatively straight/wavy? Either way, I'd recommend leaving a hair mask in and brushing it with that after a few minutes to help get the tangles out. You can then use a leave in conditioner or a detangling spray onc eyoure out the shower.

Mane and tail detangler is amazing for detangling my thick coarse hair.

I also recommend a "wet brush" to use once you've sprayed it.

Oh and genuine silk pillowcase for your bed too helps mine get less tangled and dry in the night aswell.

It’s wavy. I do have a hair mask I could put in!

I have a wet brush! I’ll have a go with the conditioning spray I’ve got and if no luck will definitely get some mane and tail.

I’ll get a pillowcase too, thank you.

Honestly the mane and tail is like nothing else I've tried for detangling. The brush just glides through!

I know I sound like a cheesy advert for it but I promise I'm not. 🤣

Took three hours but I’m free! The Denman and spray method, I just used a leave-in conditioner spray I have from Pantene. I have ordered the Mane and Tail for use after washing in future and some silk pillowcases! Thank you all for your help Flowers
