Work trip, LA

I have a work trip to LA coming up soon.

No corporate meetings, just events teams, hotels, florists etc. Any tips on what I should be packing for this time of year would be much appreciated! Never been to LA and don’t know how formal work attire is there (I would imagine not very??). Weather looks like it should be mild.

Trendy stuff like you would wear in London, so wide legs and double strap Mary Janes. Gold jewellery. Caveat, I’m old so wait for others to come along.

I have no idea! But I can never forget what Victoria Beckham said in an interview about how when she arrived on the west coast of the US she had to completely change her wardrobe because the style of dressing was completely different.

I haven’t found it matters in the vast middle of the country, but I did notice I was slightly out of sync in NY.

So my advice would be to take your credit card and shop once you arrive.

I agree! Would take a few "basics" and then hit the shopping malls as soon as you arrive.

If you listen to Bella Freud's podcast Fashion Neurosis she has mentioned more than once how everyone in LA wears 'expensive rags' - literally clothes that look like they're falling apart. So I'd say take your ripped jeans and beaten up trainers and you'll fit right in! (Maybe some linen tops would look right- kind of artfully dishvelled).

Honestly if I find the concept of buying whole new outfits in the new location so you can “fit in” with people who live in a totally different environment and country to you, while on a work trip the most mental thing I’ve ever heard.
