Hallo all,

Any feedback greatly appreciated. Treated myself to a Sezane Emilie cardigan.

I bought a L. I’m 5,4.5ft and 11.3 ish stone pear shaped with a tummy.

I think I might need the medium not so much at the front but at the back?

Any thought on the fit or style for my shape? I normally avoid boxy shaped things and go for long cardigans etc but I was influenced into this cardigan.

I would try the medium. I would love a Sézane cardigan or jumper but have been wondering about sizing. I am a very similar proportion to you OP so will give the medium a go if I can snap a bargain up in the next archive sale.

I find Sézane very true to size so if you're normally a medium then go for that. I do always think you have to allow a bit of shrinkage with wool though.

StarlightLady · 19/02/2025 12:52

I would definitely go for the Medium.

Thanks so much.

I was after it for ages as it kept selling out so clicked away when I saw it. I’m unsure though, I think it’s slightly frumpy on me less French chic, more middle aged!

I saw it on The Frugality/Alex Steadman and it’s lovely on her.

I think a smaller size and teamed with wide leg jeans it would like much less frumpy

What do you wear in general fit wise? I wear a lot of blazers. I’ve always been pear shaped but with age etc I’ve added a tummy & I have small boobs (A cup) so I tend to want not to emphasise the middle part of me.

Gorgeous cardi OP! Personally I'd try it with blue or grey high waisted wide leg or barrel jeans and a good belt, with the cardi tucked in a bit at the front. If you try that, you might find that you don't need to size down.

I've got that exact cardigan in a medium - I'm a size 14 top and it's huge. Also clown vibes on me... never worn it out. I was sold by the website image but it's not good on me at least! I'd go for a small if I were you...

I’ve slowly been losing the baby weight so my wardrobe is leggings and sweatshirts as I 100% WFH. I was reluctant to invest in any decent clothes until I was closer to my pre kids size. Sorry, I realise that’s not helpful to you!

I’m almost the same except the baby is 4!

I suspect I went from baby into peri m but maybe I’m looking for an excuse. I lost some baby weight but put it back on.

I squeeze into whatever pre baby stuff fits but haven’t really bought much other than gym stuff. Except Im hybrid so I do need some stuff.

That’s interesting. I can see the clown vibes tbh I think it’s the cut, it’s quite short & boxy.

Oddly I still sort of like it.

It's drowning you and making you look droopy. The shoulders are too sloping and there's just too much material. Sizing down might cure the issue.

I know it's a Mumsnet trope, but you sure you're an A cup? Have you tried Boob or Bust? An A cup would mean that you only have 1inch difference between your under bust and bust measurements. Your photo makes it look as if you have more than that.

RunnerDown · 19/02/2025 13:54

You definitely need to size down . I find that you need to do that in nearly all of Sezanes knitwear.
I follow some Facebook pages about sezane. They would suggest with the emile that if it’s closed you should half tuck at the front and open the top couple of buttons. If you don’t want to tuck it in it might look better open
