Looking at this for a wedding guest but need some sort of jacket/cardi but have no idea what to even start looking for.

Any ideas would be gratefully received please. Type/style/colour etc?

What jacket would go?

Following I have a green dress similar in style and would like to know the same

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 19/02/2025 08:46

Either cropped and boxy or oversized.

These are the same brand

Short black denim
Over sized
Very cropped

Thanks. I wondered if denim would be too casual for a wedding g but I like that first one you linked.

i guess I was thinking of a lighter colour but quite like the black

Sorry I wouldn’t wear denim to a wedding.

Maybe a cropped cream blazer? Or a fluffy cream cropped cardigan.

Black would work too. Depends on the time of year. If it’s summer I’d probably try and stay a lighter colour.

I think new black denim can look very smart. Blue denim, no, but black denim is nothing more than a particular type of cotton.

I think black would work best- cream is a bit twee.

I would also say oversized.

This:

Zara jacket

would be gorgeous with the dress for Spring.

I would go for a wrap as its more versatile and you can reuse it. https://www.nearlynewcashmere.co.uk/search?q=Wrap

That quilted kimono is gorgeous. Agree that cream can be a bit twee. Black can be a little harsh with pink though. It’s a tough brief.

Is it in the uk ? Will it be chilly for some of it , cold church .

I think as it is a block colour you could go for some pattern . Anything that has a bit of pink in it . I love patterns / florals but know not everyone's cup of tea .

As the dress is also straight you could get something slightly more floaty . Even kimono / duster coat style if that is something you would be comfortable in .

One hundred stars is the default for kimonos / but they may not have anything you like as very distinct style . I personally don't like the ones with belts as I think they do look like dressing gowns .

When do you have to buy / when is the wedding as I think shops are bringing out more of the spring clothing . I always find Zara has a great selection of jackets . So you could keep checking on new arrivals .

If you are wanting something slightly warmer , you may be lucky to find something online in the sales . Usually velvet though . Warehouse usually has a good selection.

Depending on budget , Lisou and Nancy Mac also have beautiful jackets but quite pricey .

If you do find a style you like , but it is too pricey you could also try Vinted , although you may have to scroll through a lot . Put in the filter new / new with tags .
Good luck .

Cropped/boxy navy

Please not a cardigan with that dress!

Onemoret1me · 19/02/2025 20:19

Ha! When I write cardi my mind was thinking that may be a faux pas!

thanks for all of the advice and ideas. I love that Zara one, will have a search on Zara as a starting place. It’s a late spring wedding.
