Okay.
So I am late 40s with not bad skin, very heart shaped face historically ( but these days my face is just like a chin )…
I’ve lost weight. I drink alcohol . I take medication for mental health. Am in surgical menopause ( doing well 🙃) and have had lots of GA surgeries recently for other reasons..
Under the Gp for all of the above but I found that I really really do with some help with my make up routine . At least it will help make me look a bit normal on the outside …

Know that sounds totally trivial but I genuinely need to sort myself out. I see all this stuff on instagram and all this contouring , using brushes for concealer, foundation etc..
It is alien to me.

Man.. I feel old. And anxious. And out of my depth. And I need some help.

Thank you so much x

Are there any makeup artists local to you? I recently had a session with one. My sisters and I always do a ‘thing’ before Christmas and this was this last years. I found this better than a makeup counter as she had lots of brands of products.

She was really good and helped overhaul my makeup bag. I’m nearly 50 and am finding powdery things make me look worse.

My makeup routine takes about 5 mins now, unless I’m wearing eyeshadow which I only really do now and then.

If a makeup artist isn’t accessible then you could try a counter.

No problem. It’s difficult to give personalised advice because there are so many variables in terms of skin texture and type. Then there’s colouring etc.

If you happen to be in the North East, this is who I used. She’s made up lots of famous people.

You sound very similar to me. I recently had a Trinny London consultation at John Lewis. It was free due to an offer on IG but any payment is redeemable against purchases.

It was absolutely brilliant. Great skin care tips. No hard sell. A very natural daytime make up look and the lovely MAU showed me how to dial it up a little for night time. Five products max. I was really impressed. Might be worth a try. Best wishes you sound like you've had a tough time.
