Maternity wear

I’m in the awkward stage in the early second trimester where I don’t quite have a bump, I just look like I’ve put a few pounds on. My jeans are starting to feel tight so I need to get more but I also need to start thinking about other clothing.
What maternity wear essentials would you recommend? I want to avoid wearing leggings as much as possible because I always feel horrible and demotivated if I haven’t at least attempted to put an outfit together!

I’d look second hand if you want trousers or jeans. I just bought maternity tights from H&M and wore my existing clothes.

I lived in Isabella Oliver tops, plenty on vinted too

Tops wise, I have been mostly okay as I tend to wear oversized/undone outer layers anyway and just bought several ‘longline’ vest tops from Asda in various colours, then a couple of pairs of ASOS (size down at least one, if not two sizes!) and H&M jeans from Vinted. Also maternity tights with my normal dresses/the odd Vinted maternity dress. That felt like plenty of options! Last time was easier, I have to say, as it was a summer into autumn pregnancy so just dresses, no tights, two pairs of maternity shorts with loose vest tops etc.
I normally hate leggings but bought myself two pairs of thermal lined leggings in the last couple of weeks (36 weeks now!) and have been living in them 🤣

Dresses with leggings or jeans or black trousers with stretch/ elastic are good options, especially if the dress cut/pattern/style means you can wear it as your bump grows.

I hunted for some low waist jeans yesterday in the hopes of not needing any maternity ones but no luck!
I’ve been looking at vinted because I really don’t want to spend a fortune.
Is maternity clothing bought in your usual size? It’s impossible to find a shop near me where I can try anything on!

Have a look for

Beyond Nine

on Vinted if you don’t want to pay full price.
