Dermatologist for red nose?

I’m no stunner but did get lucky with good skin - never really had acne, no noticeable pores etc. A few years ago I had an accident and (sorry!) skinned my nose. It healed but the skin still looks red and angry. It’s exacerbated by the fact I’m quite fair so this big red nose in the middle of my face stands out a mile. Correcting make up doesn’t sit well on the skin and I’m really self conscious about it.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a referral to a dermatologist for something like this? I wouldn’t even mind paying to go privately but would rather see a doctor who is also NHS rather than a commercial skin clinic, if that makes sense?

Could you have rosacea? Check rhinophyma, a type of rosacea that affects the nose.

If it is, the NHS may be able to help. It's worth asking before going private. You can treat it with a course of IPL.

Ivermectin and azelaic acid are effective skincare ingredients to use in tandem.

Thanks @Jillfi - It's definitely not as severe as rhinophyma (that looks sore!) and doesn't seem to react to environmental factors in the same way as rosacea.

I've tried The Ordinary Azelaic acid which didn't seem to make much difference but I think that's quite a mild formula and there may be something stronger out there. Worth a shot at trying the rosacea approach though, so thank you for the advice on suitable treatments.
