Dresses for south of France in June

I'm thinking I might like some maxi length shirt dresses with three quarter sleeves for tootling about. I am only 5ft tall but currently size 16 so would like some nice coverage (age 58 if that matters). Can anyone recommend anything please? I do need a short/petite fit. I can shorten dresses but the waist is always too low and shoulders are too wide in a regular fitting.

Boden, M&S and Nobody's Child worked for me last year for long dresses that weren't too long (I'm 5 foot 2). I got more v-neck styles though rather than shirt dresses.

I just get mine from the local market when I'm there. Whereabouts are you headed?

Thank you.
Should have added my budget is more lemonade than champagne.

Carcassonne. I could never risk leaving it til I got there. 😑

I'm petite and these work for me. I just buy from Vinted.

I always forget Vinted. I'll have a look now.
Should I be steering away from flowery? What colours/patterns are more up to date?

The French tend ti steer away from flowery or heavily patterned, but it’s a case of you being you. Just a heads up, vehicles are not permitted in the old town. If you are staying there (and it’s lovely) wear shoes that are practical for walking with luggage.

Brave. Inland, July is blisteringly hot, so I would suggest lots of natural fibre, loose fitting, light in colour with shoulder coverage. Unless you are slender of thigh, consider some under shorts too. My preference is for indian hand blocked prints on cotton.

I got a couple of nobody’s child Dee Dee dresses last year and they’re light to wear but I did get shorts for underneath. Enjoy carcassonne!
