Aline black leather skirt

I bought an a-line black leather line length skirt years ago. I love it but have never worn it. Lack of confidence and or opportunity I suppose. I’m going to a casual family party next week and I want to wear it. I don’t know what to wear it with - top and boots but what? I’m 5’5” and size 10. I’ve totally lost my way with fashion. Maybe it’s totally naff and I’ll never wear it. Any advice including if it’s only to say give up on it.

I have one too, and it's tricky. Mid calf, high waist. Last time I wore it, which was ages ago, was with a chunky but shaped cream jumper from And Other Stories. I could also imagine it styled with a very structured, plain short sleeved, boxy top in ecru or a mid-tone that hits on the hips or higher. Heeled black leather boots, but not pointy.

You're trying to make it look as modern as possible, because you don't want to drift into Elvira territory, unless you WANT to drift into Elvira territory, so the top half probably shouldn't be a black bodysuit with cleavage, for instance.

Maybe I just give up on it. Maybe I never wore it for a reason

I bought a leather skirt, a line and knee length. I'm a very conservative dresser. But I have worn it this year with a chunky jumper, black tights and my fav chunky black boots for going out casually & lunches. And I have been wearing with a fine knitted sparkly black jumper for the evening, still with my boots

Where did people get their skirts? My faux one died and I’m in the market for a real one. Not too long. Maybe slightly A line.

I might see if I can try it on. I’m short, so what looks like mini on a model could well be knee length on me. Ideally I want something a bit below knee though.

The pub band type gigs where I am tend to be packed and roasting. So I wouldn't wear a jumper.
