Hello you wonderful knowledgable humans

Have always been a size 8 but over the last few years my weight has massively changed due to medical issues. My weight is simply not in my control and changes according to my treatment which has been hard to accept.

Of course my priority is my health, not my size, so have just kinda tried to ignore it but has meant I just live in leggings and sweatshirts.

my weight totally exploded with steriods last year, but I’m now apprx size 12 and feeling slightly more comfortable in my own skin!!

I want to try to wear jeans again but it was ‘skinny jeans phase’ pre illness and weight change so I have no idea where to start.

I have always been a pear shape - heavy on the hips and thighs.

Now I’m larger, my stomach has quite a roll at the bottom that requires containing!!!!!

I bought some different options from m&s as a starting point, but so damn confused.

I felt this bootcut shape was most flattering but didn’t feel current / up to date? https://www.marksandspencer.com/eva-high-waisted-bootcut-jeans-with-stretch/p/clp60458381?intid=mobileapppdpshare

I remember even when my weight dropped super low because of my illness ( like 5.5 stone) I tried Levi’s mom jeans I think and everyone steered me away from them!

Personal style - hard to tell when you just wear lululemon leggings and anine sweatshirts 🤣 I would say I’m very H&M and Zara and mango.

SO - what’s the best jean style on a 5ft 4 pear shape please?

PS once you sort this out (!) please can we start on what tops you were with jeans these days…!

thank you SO much 🙏🏼

No advice but there’s a tremendously useful selection to use as a starting point here:

I have similar proportions to you and currently like the look of new designs from Zara and Citizens of Humanity. And actually Anine Bing. If I were buying new jeans I think I’d lean towards the unfamiliar.

I don't think one style of jeans is in - it's good to have a selection.

I'm an hourglass leaning pear. M&S mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, sienna straight, wide crop, boot cut in long length, are all good. Experiment with washes (light/dark) as some work better in light washes (especially looser styles as there is so much fabric).

Mint Velvet jeans I've heard are good too.
