Help! Please can I have some inspiration on what you'd wear for drinks on a Saturday evening? Hubby and I going with another couple next weekend. It's very cold so I'm thinking jeans and a top but very interested to what the outfit you'd grab would be? Thanks!

Well, I wouldn’t be ‘grabbing’ anything - not with a week’s notice …

Jeans would be unlikely to feature. For evening, particularly in Winter, I like a combination of very tactile fabrics - velvet, something furry, silk, translucent things, mohair, maybe sequins, probably something knitted. So … perhaps a long, narrow, soft, cobwebby slip dress and a cropped quilted velvet bomber jacket. With some sort of very minimal boots.

But that assumes a night of cocktails and champagne at a properly ‘out out’ venue. I might choose something else for a loud and crowded pub.

Depends on where you're going. I'd wear either jeans and cashmere sweater/cardigan if casual or same with bias cut slip skirt if more fancy. Dress it up with jewellery/nice bag. Don't buy something new for a night out unless it's something you've been coveting and you know you'll wear again. Have a fantastic time!

Where are you going op. Local pub or somewhere nicer?

WrappedInRed · 15/02/2025 21:40

Local pubs / bars so not in the city or posh bars. I definitely don't want to or can afford to buy anything new. I don't know why I'm getting a bit 😑 about what to wear. I think it's because it's with a couple I don't reply know!

I think I might go cashmere jumper to keep cosy!

Jeans and a nice top is still a thing. You'll feel dressed up with a good blow dry, nice makeup and jewellery.
